We live locally, but visited for the first time today, for the Christchurch Food Festival, and enjoyed their excellent raclette over roast potatoes.

This is a very small place, busy, clearly with a regular clientele, but all the staff go out of their way to make all welcome. The lady patron was working the room, in the nicest possible way, when I was there. I would love to be a regular here.

Home cooked food, locally and sustainably sourced, cakes looked delicious and reasonably priced. Home made soup also looked great.

They apparently take their coffee seriously, and would definitely go here rather than a chain.

If you love good no make that great tasting coffee - visit here the owners are freindly and helpful. It isn't cheap but most of the cakes etc are homemade and lots of local produce to be had.
Can't recommend this place highly enough.
Downside - it's quite small but can't hold that against them!

In a town centre that seems to have been overwhelmed with cafes (and more than a sprinkling of gift shops), a newcomer must stand out. Heartizans does so, with an excellent selection of food and drink to eat in, or take away. I had a Great Briton sandwich: silverside with melted Cheddar, wholegrain mustard and onion marmelade, between locally baked bread, served with good portions of salad and crisps, and accompanied by a pot of tea (leaf, with strainer). They know how to do things here!
