We went into Masala Bay on a whim, having walked past and been seduced by the lovely aromas and the fact it was relatively busy on a Tuesday night. The service was charming and the food lovely, as well as great value. Would definitely recommend.

A Monday evening and it was surprisingly busy. We last ate here years ago when it was The Tempest. it is well appointed and nicely furnished. We sat in the window but the menus were hard to read in the low light. Helpfully they turned the lighting up for us until we had ordered and then down again. Papadoms arrived and sauces and the lime pickle was hot and spicy. The staff were very helpful and advised me on dishes to match my need for hot, hot, hot. Everything worked well and the food and service were really good. The lads are from Bangladesh but all support Chrlsea. Draught Kingfisher, hot strong coffee and great food and all for under £25 a head. In all the dishes it seemed that you could taste fresh onion, tomato , peppers and crisp vegetables. This is the. best that I have so far tasted around BH23.

I've been here 2 times with friends and found the food was good but expensive. Staff were rude apart from one. Recently my partner booked a table at 8.45pm and we arrived on time. No tables so we were asked to wait at the bar. We sat there for 20 min without getting asked if we wanted a drink. Eventually we were shown our table. We waited for 10 minutes and i asked the waiter cleaning the table next to us to get us a drink. A further 10 minutes later and we had nothing so we walked out. Rude staff, expensive food and it's very hot in there as there is no air con and it is so cramped as the tables are pushed so close to each other you might as well be eating with the people next to you and its noisy. Will never go there again.

Stopped by on the off chance they had a table... and yes they did! Superb, friendly and welcoming staff who were prompt and efficient. Great starter platter to share followed by a super Jalfrezi curry with sticky rice, delicious! Quite a busy Friday night in the restaurant but still the service was great. Will definitely go back. All in all, great food, great service and a great price.

Our starters were fine, but we ordered sizzling main courses that weren't sizzling. The people on the next table had them, so we complained. After denying it, and us complaining about 3 times, the waiter finally took them away and brought them back sizzling. What a hassle! The restaurant was quite dark, I would say darker than subdued lighting. Also the pilau rice could have been cooked longer. Disappointing for the price.
