I've never felt the need to write a review before but I must say that this hotel is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. My sister and I shared a twin silver room in April with a special mid week rate which included breakfasts each morning and £25 towards the three course dinner the first night.

From the warm welcome we received, to the enormous but inviting bedroom and bathroom, through to the chocolates on the bed and all the other finishing touches, we just had a great time. It was a great base for Christchurch and the surrounding areas, with the bowling green directly across the road and pubs and restaurants just five minutes walk away.

Good bus links to Bournemouth and further afield and we did many long coastal walks, visited Mudeford Quay, ate in nice restaurants, and also visited Highcliffe Castle and Tea Rooms.

Overall a fantastic experience and the staff went above and beyond with giving us local information.

I recommended it to a work colleague who stayed several weeks later and used the facilities of the spa in the Christchurch Harbour hotel. We ran out of time to do the spa but I would definitely return to do so.

The location was terrific, the silver room we were in was at the back of the hotel so very quiet. My only slight disappointment was that the windows had slats on them instead of curtains/blinds so the light came in very early but to be honest it got me up early ready to do thing so I can't really complain.

Room Tip: Silver Twin Room quiet at back of hotel.

Hear, hear. I had read here bad reviews and warnings about these rooms and ignored them. Don't do the same mistake. These rooms are a fraud. Yes you have the space and the view - but here's what you don't have: no air conditioned (we were visiting when weather was 25-26 *C - the room was even hotter as it is facing south - felt like a sauna). We tried to open the window - bad idea. These rooms are located over a busy main street that serves as main access to the town - the noise and the polution were unbearable. We were directly above a bus-stop so we had guaranteed the continuous noise. The windows are not double-glass so it is always noisy. To make it even better the very nice and stylish bathroom shower had only very very hot water and boiling water. We asked the hotel if the rooms were noisy and they said, "no - at night is quiet" - it's not true, until very very late at night (the bus keeps going until mid-night or so). They did not offer an alternative (perhaps they were fully booked) and just told us - I quote "you'll be all-right". You've been warned - these rooms should be ranked "Lead" not Platinum. They are simply not worth the money. We did love the location of the hotel - fantastic - and it's park - beyond description how beautiful - it leads straight to the church and the ruins. And the local teams do use it to play "bowling". Christchurch was lovely - really special and we would go back any time. I think we would repeat the Hotel as well- but request a room on the back - or make sure that they're platinum rooms have been equiped with air-conditioned and double glass.

Visited Christchurch to see the Food Festival and stayed at the Kings Hotel. Lovely big room and a very, very comfortable bed. The staff were lovely and made you feel very welcome. Fabulous outside seating overlooking the quintessentially English bowling green and Priory.

We received a very helpful and warm welcome. The room was huge, very clean and well laid out. Everything we needed was in the room including an iPhone/iPod docking station for music. The only minor niggle was the noise from the road outside. The bed was very comfortable and supportive, it wasn't a cheap, saggy, soft mattress - perfect!

The only let down was the quality of the breakfast. Everything you could want was on offer except for a gluten free option. Also, the cooked breakfast looked a bit stingy, a small bowl of beans, that was probably no more than a spoon full and also, there was only a quarter of a slice of black pudding and one rasher of bacon. The was portion control that looked mean. Why not give a full slice of black pudding but make it thinner and why not just place the beans on the plate rather than in a bowl?

This was our last memory of what had been a good stay and a nice hotel.

My wife and I stopped at the Kings over Easter, as we have had numerous great stays at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel we though we would stay ay their sister hotel the Kings for a change. We initally booked a Platinium room, which was very well appointed at the front of the building nice view of the bowling green and Priory, however what we did not expect was the main road outside our bedroom window, with regular bus services, dust carts and heavy lorries, passing just outside our window ( not really shown on any of their website pictures) dispite double glazing it was still noisey. After a friendly chat with the staff we were relocated to a Silver room at the rear of the hotel overlooking the courtyard, which was quite and equally as comfortable. Staff were very accomadating, polite ,their resturant was excellent with a good selection, and portions were just right. Parking although free to residents was very limited, the rear car park only had 8 slots and their was a small area to the front which was a first come first served free for all
All in all, we enjoyed the stay but would opt for a rear of building room, just because its less noisey, would we book again....yes

We stayed for 1 night this weekend with some friends. The service from the outset was excellent with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was spotlessly clean and modern with everything you need, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. Great location for central Christchurch and the restaurant and bar are both excellent - a must visit. Breakfast was fantastic too. All round, a great boutique hotel that I would love to return to sometime soon.
