“Nice pleasant quiet hotel”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

Very nice hotel, staff, rooms, view of harbour, etc. Only slight let down was length of time waiting for cooked breakfast but I would still go to this hotel again and would recommend it.

Myself and my Husband decided at the last minute to get a boat from Guernsey to Weymouth and see a little bit of Dorset for the Weekend. I did a little research and read really good review's on the Harbour Hotel and Spa. I logged onto their website and noticed that on the Sunday evening they were doing a special rate of a £118.00 for two people , dinner, bed and breakfast in a Bronze inland room.

I called the Hotel to see if they had availabilty, and they did so I booked and paid for it over the phone. We arrived at approx 1400 and were greated by one of the members of staff who kindly offered to carry our luggage in for us and we went straight to reception where we were asked if we would like to take a seat whilst we checked in. We were advised that our room was ready (check in is 1500 ) and went up to our room which was absolutely lovely to say it was the lowest categary room it had a everything we needed even an Ipod docking station.

We went down to look at the Spa and Swimming pool which was really nice , we had tried to get in on the Saturday night but it was fully booked so we didn't really have the time to make use of all the facility's. We went into the bar and ordered a nice call glass of champagne and went and sat outside on the terrace which overlooked Christchurch's natural harbour ,we were really lucky the temperature was around 17 degrees which made it very pleasant for us to sit outside and take in the view ( In November ) We went back up to our room to get changed as we had booked a table for 1830 in the Harbour Retsuarant .

We went and had a drink in the bar and the Head Waiter came and gave us our menu for the evening , we were trying to work out how they were going to do it as we were on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate but at the bottom of the menu it stated that for those who were on the above that there was a £28.00 per person allowance which actually made our bed and breakfast rate for the two us £62.00 so all in all it was an absolute bargain.

The staff were really friendly and curtious from the receptionist to the waiters and waitresses and bar staff , The food and presentation were excellent and so was the full breakfast menu as well, all in all we had a fantastic stay and would definately recommend the Hotel , the only thing is we wished we had been able to stay longer which gives us a really good excuse to go back , Thank You

Room Tip: We had an inland room and expected it to be a bit noisy but infact it was really quiet

Stayed here over night in 1 of the cheapest rooms, i say cheap but it was anything but - however it didn't cost a lot! Very comfy bed - room a bit hot but no complaints really. bathroom is modern and has some nice touches. had a meal in the Harbour restaurant, as a chef i can say it was simple but very well executed - therefore perfect! Only slight disappointment was that we did not turn the page in the menu to see the recommended dishes - which were cheaper and looked more yummy! Staff were professional and courteous - not rushed and the wine was excellent while not over priced. The Spa is very well maintained and the staff again professional and friendly. We will definitely be back - even if just to turn the page in the menu.....

Room Tip: Don't worry if not facing the Harbour - still a nice room!

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights on a short break in early October. We had booked over the internet and I thought I had told them we were coming with a young baby, but were bringing a cot, but perhaps I had forgotten to say so. We went to our room, which was lovely, and had great views over the harbour, but was going to be a tight squeeze once the cot was up. I asked if there was any chance of an upgrade, and we were moved to a huge room on the ground floor which was wonderful. It looked over the harbour but was classed as a garden view, but had french doors leading out to the garden, and a relaxing area with 2 sofas. It was lovely. Great decor, nice bathroom. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first night which was lovely. It was part of the dinner, bed and breakfast package we'd booked, and there was a set menu of £28 towards anything off a la carte, which we thought was a great approach, so we could pick and choose. The second night we ate at the Jetty, and other great meal and good service. Breakfasts were lovely in the hotel restaurant overlooking the water. The spa was gorgeous, and had a couple of hours a day for children, and our little one loved it. Shame the steam room and salt room were out of action when we were there. All in all, and lovely stay.

Visited today for Sunday lunch with friends, the staff were warm and friendly on arrival and attentive but not invaisive during our meal. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the pianist was an extra bonus. The menu was excellent value for a three course meal the quality of the food and its presentation was 5 star. I also believe children under a certain age eat free on Sundays. The whole experience was wonderful and the views stunning, certain to re-visit again.

My husband and I seldom stay at a Hotel more than once . . . however this Hotel has proved to be the exception to our rule because yet again we have treated ourselves to a break here. From the moment we arrive until we leave we feel as though the staff have looked after us well. They smile as they greet you . . . always ask if you need any further assistance and all in an unobtrusive way. The bedrooms are always spotlessly clean and well furnished - there is a lift for easy access and a porter to assist if required. Tea and coffee making facilities are also available. The bathroom is modern and of a good size with lovely clean white fluffy towels. From the breakfast through to evening dinner we cannot fault the quality of the food in the lovely dining room with its views out across the harbour. Their are Spa and Beauty treatments available but I would think booking is the best way as that always seems quite busy. We walked along the beach every morning and took various routes back and have never been bored. There is a lovely veranda all fully furnished that is great to sit out on and a lawn near the harbour all with good quality matching furniture to sit on. I would say that the combination of good quality service and great ambiance that we receive every time we visit remains at this calibre and I would definitely recommend this both as a great comfort retreat or a longer holiday stay as there are so many great places to visit within very easy reach whether you go by car or enjoy walking.

Room Tip: Ask to see the rooms as they come in at Bronze and Silver as well as Standard (there may even be Gol...

We used the hotel for an evening meal there was good an bad.
Start of meal fro 20 - disorganised told start was to be delayed by 30 mins then the staff told us to go through to dining, The staff in the dinign room than asked us why we were sitting down early. The starter of salt beef looked like catfood and consisted of some grisley beef. The good bit was the main course of fillet beef - flavour and tenderness was second to none. My colleagues had lamb but their potatoes were served after they had eaten half the lamb. It also took three attempts to get the right bottle of wine, the red wine well above room temperature almost warm. Sweet was good.

Service at breakfast was equllay bad with coffee arriving after the english breakfast was served. At both meals the staff had a tendency to sling the plates down.

Room was good but other aspects of the service overcast the whole experience
