Symonds Yat Rock Lodge

We stayed in apartment 8 for a long weekend - and had to drag ourselves away.
A highlight for us was eating breakfast with uninterrupted views across the valley, and the added delight of being observed by a curious flock of pheasants feeding just a few feet away.
The place is spotless and faultless. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The self catering accommodation has excellent views and an eating space outside.

This was a great base if you are into walking. Its just outside of the hustle and bustle of Symonds Yat and the view from the outside breakfast area is stunning. We were fortunate to be there last weekend when the October heat wave records were broken. The B and B rooms are very clean and well appointed and the showers are great! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was lovely with fresh honey and yogurt, and lovely sausages. We did a lovely day walk out across the fields at the back over to English Bicknor and down to the Wye in direction of Goodrich Castle. I would recommend this place and maybe next time will try their apartment accommodation which had the views at the back.
Thanks for a memorable weekend.

Room Tip: Four poster room was very comfortable

All the adverts show the ligth & spacious self catering accommodation. The B & B is very different. The rooms are dark & dingy, with a strong musty smell. The owners were very defensive when questioned about this, stating there was nothing wrong with the rooms.
The honey served at breakfast was 2 months past it's best before date-not very good.
They get away with it because it is such a popular tourist area & good accommodation is booked up quickly.

We enjoyed our stay at the clean, tidy and well equipt Symonds Yat Rock Lodge B&B. The printed guide walks they offer were great. The setting was perfect (right across the road from the woods and with fields to the rear). Beautiful views. Excellent information in the booklet in the room. Very friendly and helpful couple running it. Would definitely stay there again if in the area. Welcoming and accommodating for the doggie too! :-)

My wife and I stayed in one of self catering apartments, finding it clean and spacious with a contemporary feel. We love the outdoors and this place is very well situated to whet your appetite: breathtaking views from our kitchen and lounge of spring countryside and inviting country walks; from the front door you're literally on the edge of Englands largest oak forest! Our hosts Darren and Claire were very helpful and provided us with some excellent advice on the best pubs and walks. Perfect!
