You could do worse than follow the Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean. Some of the sclutptures have suffered from the elements but I guess that is all part of their natural design. Our favourites are the stained glass window and The Chair - those mean we are getting close to Beechenhurst Lodge and a cup of tea!

Did the sculpture trail with our dogs. It was a day after a day on the bikes, so was meant to be relaxing. We thought we would do this!

It was OK, the main problem is the sculptures are difficult to navigate around, and there is NO explanation about their meaning, or who erected them or even what they are called!

The Forest is a beautiful place, however, a little more direction and navigation would definitely increase visitors to what could be a fantastic journey!

Had a nice walk although did get lost, certainly need more signs/maps in the woods. Again need more visible signs in the car park as we presumed it was free only to find it wasn't but luckily got away with it!

On the plus side, this is a lovely walk, in beautiful country side, and it's free! (Although if you go by car, you will have to pay for parking, and you'll also need to buy a trail map). The fact that it's free makes complaining uncomfortable, but the fact is that some of the exhibits are clearly getting rather old and tatty - and one or two are,, frankly, just rubbish. I was highly impressed by the railway sleepers, the church window, and the giant's Chair (albeit the latter being and example of a somewhat aged exhibit). A few others! however, were very poor indeed. Hill33 stood out as one which was cringingly bad. Overall, this is still a place worth visiting, but it's not somewhere we'll be returning to in the near future.

The walk through the forest was nice but was mightily unimpressed with the 'Sculptures'.
I accept that I may be my general lack of understanding of modern sculpture and the fact that I cannot appreciate the beauty in a pile of ash with some wood poking out. To me it looked like some fly tipped asphalt waste, something that we have plenty of in Thetford Forest (where I live).
The cafe was quite expensive and the service was not the fastest.
