£7 for a adult and £6 for a pensioner.

Not the easiest place to find so SAT NAV helps.

You go down the caves and see the iron ore that was excavated. Warm clothing recommended as it is a tad cold in the caves. The caves are well lit and not claustiphobic at all. At one point it looks like a miner is really working in the cave - so well done on the special effects.

There is a on site cafe with toilets before you move on.

From the outside it does not look much but this is a very extensive set of caves well worth the entrance fee with very clear signing an explanation. It is very easy to imagine what it was like to be a boy working for 10 hours a day for one shilling and sixpence.

It is lovely that it is not over commercialised. They receive no state subsidy and there is a very family type of atmosphere.

There is a good cafe upstairs which I understand is crowded in the weekends but even with noisy groups of schoolchildren going round there is still space for everybody

Really enjoyed our visit to Clearwell,as dogs are not allowed underground we did the visit in shifts. It took the first party half an hour to go round but took hubby & I an hour. There are interactive parts with lots of interesting facts about. We were the only people in the caves when we went down & it was quite awe inspiring just to imagine the place at work as a mine or as an ancient place to live.I was very impressed with the whole set up & a cup of tea & cake at the end was well worth it
