We stayed at The Rock for 2 nights in April and would highly recommend staying there. Chris and Lindy were both very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They have great local knowledge and are more than happy to share it and recommend pubs, restaurants, walks (Chris has a great collection of maps and local walking trails) and canoeing. The room was lovely - clean, nicely decorated, spacious, comfy and warm (with lots of coffee, tea and really good biscuits). The garden was a great a place to sit and have a cup of tea, admire the views and play fetch (or at least try to!) with Oscar and Arthur. The cooked breakfast and coffee was excellent. A wonderful relaxing weekend break - thank you Chris and Lindy.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Rock. We received a warm welcome. Chris and Lindy are very knowledgeable on the local area and gave some great advice on local walks from short strolls to all day hiking with terrific scenery & views - thanks Chris!
We had one of the dog friendly rooms as we took our four legged friend with us, the room was clean and comfortable, well equipped and with a great outlook. The hearty full english breakfasts are mouthwatering. There was fresh milk available on request for drinks in our room and even doggie treats where placed in her bed for our four legged friend.
This is a lovey B&B in an ideal spot for walking and enjoying the lovely area of Symonds Yat and beyond. The two local pubs tht we visited The New Inn and The Dog and Muffler served delicious food and are also dog friendly.

This is our second stay at The Rock, our first being our couple of years ago. Our visit this Easter weekend did not disappoint. It is great to find a dog friendly B&B which is in a great location. Chris and Lindy are friendly and helpful and their cooked breakfasts are lovely and set you up for the day. There is lots to do in the area and Chris and Lindy are at hand to give you sugesstions, directions and to provide you with maps of local walks.
The dog friendly rooms are clean and decorated to a nice standard and the rooms are all self-contained in that you can come and go with your own key and do not need to disturb anyone.
Murphy, our cocker spaniel had great fun playing with Oscar and Authur the resident springer spaniels in the contained garden.
We will definately visit again and would recommend The Rock B&B as a great place to stay with or without a dog.

Great review thanks, Can I just point out that only three of our seven rooms are dog friendly the rest are guaranteed dog free and suitable for people with dog allergies

As keen outdoor people, this was a great place to start a leisurely stroll down to the Yat and continue up the Wye.

Lindy and Chris provided us all the info we needed to get started in the local area. Recommended places such as the New Inn up the road provided great pub grub and we had a nice map, drawn by Chris to get us there.

We also had a good map and directions provided, to take us on a nice walk through the woods, where we saw developing newts and deer. These were literally 5 minutes out the door. If birds take your fancy, there were some pereguines out flying on the main Yat lookout too.

The room itself was great and the shower was a good decent one with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel on tap if needed. The bed was comfy and there's a TV, although with all the great sites outdoors we ignored that. The decor in the room is very nicely done and is well thought out.

There's a few other activities down in the valley to try, such as the boat rides, cannoing, ferry crossing, bird watching and tea drinking.

I nearly forgot to write about the lovely breakfast. Options of cereal, juices, tea, coffee + the excellent fry up with perfectly done eggs. It's no problem if you are as fussy as us about what we eat and don't eat and we felt perfectly at ease in the dining room with lots of light and nice valley views.

The accommodation was well suited for three couples staying together as we could have two rooms upstairs and one down, and felt quite self-contained. The rooms were clean and compact, with everything you needed for a short stay. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented, and the views were spectacular from the breakfast room. Chris and Lindy gave us very helpful advice about walking in the area.

Room Tip: Our room had a standard double bed (four poster) which was smaller than we are used to, so would hav...

Fantastic B & B, so peaceful. Run by the perfect hosts, dog friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic. Located right on the doorstep of a variety of walks and only a short drive from many more.
