“A very relaxing week, just what we were looking for”
Reviewed December 28, 2011 for a stay in September 2011

From the moment we arrived, to the day we left, The Retreat offered us a home-from-home providing us the exact type holiday we were looking for. A quiet rural setting, surrounded by fields and animals, with marked pathways to local country pubs (beware, most open just for lunch and the evening) and short drives to the coast.

The cottage was well stocked, spacious, homely and finished to a high standard. Having fresh eggs and tea and coffee waiting for you was a nice touch. It comes with all amenities you need, should you wish, TV, DVD player, WiFi and dishwasher, which certainly made relaxing easier.

From booking on the phone to saying goodbye, we found Amanda and Andy very warming and helpful, they got the balance just right, between being welcoming and hospitable and allowing us the time the relax and enjoy the peaceful countryside.

We're definitly looking forward to a return visit.

“Great Place to Relax”
Reviewed September 19, 2011 for a stay in September 2011

The accommodation was fantastic and the barns have been amazingly restored, containing every you need with great style.
Amanda was most helpful in letting us a book a last minute break and the fresh eggs were a real treat. You are able to visit all of the animals on the farm and there are some lovely long walks.
The location is very peaceful but there are also plenty of places nearby to visit, so it's great if you just want to get away from it all and relax (as we did) but also if you want to explore the surrounding countryside and/or Norwich.
Amanda and Andy both made us feel really at home and we definitely hope to return.

“Absolutely brilliant”
Reviewed September 2, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

The retreat is 1 of 3 holiday lets on a small farm halfway between Dereham and Norwich. All 3 lets are converted barns and have been converted to a very high standard. Amanda and Andy (the owners who live behind the barns) are terrific and could not be any more helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much for them, including the kids knocking on his door first thing in the morning wanting tractor rides! There is a small area fenced off that holds 3 Goats, a Sheep and several Chickens that the children can go into at any time and stroke the animals. If you ask nicely enough you might even be able to take a goat or a sheep out on a lead (my kids loved it). You can also collect the chickens eggs and have them for your breakfast.

The location is great too. Its at the end of a very quiet lane so there is hardly any traffic which is great for letting the little ones run about. Its only about 15 minutes to Norwich and 10 minutes to Dereham so not too isolated either.

I would highly recommend anybody to stay here, especially families with children but it would suit anybody needing accommodation in Norfolk

“The Most Amazing Place To Stay”
Reviewed August 7, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

What a wonderful place to stay. Andy and Amanda are fantastic hosts. A beautiful scenic place to stay with plenty of things to do nearby. My youngest daughter (Age 10) helped out feeding the animals nearly every morning and night - she loved it! The Retreat was a real home from home. The welcome tray on arrival was very much appreciated and the fresh eggs an added bonus!. With comfortable beds and two great showers we couldn't have found anywhere better for the money we paid. Will definitely be returning for another holiday.

“Tip Top! Loved our stay and so did our daughters”
Reviewed July 23, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

Cant recommend enough. The Retreat is wonderfully equipped with everything from luxury showers and wet rooms to free wi-fi access. My wife and I were able to enjoy the peace, quiet and delightful surroundings while our eldest daughter (3yrs old) was enthralled by the farm animals, who she fed on a daily basis.

Owners are lovely and made our stay really special.
