Town centre location, easy for shopping and eating out.
Very good restaurant and service. Breakfasts were good with a choice of cereals, dried fruits and nuts and a variety of cooked breakfasts including continental style.
Huge outside grassed area and undercover decked veranda.
We stayed in the family room/bridal suite for three nights and although it was incredibly spacious it really lacked character and those extra perks you might expect in superior room, although it did have a jacuzzi bath. The main problem though was the cleanliness. The room had clearly not been cleaned for sometime as the dust on the furniture was incredibly thick. There was old newspapers in the draws and dead flies on the carpet near the window.
During our three nights the bath and sink were not cleaned, still no dusting, the towels etc were not changed. I reported the cleanliness to a member of staff who said that they had a foreign cleaner and the language barrier was a problem. Personally, I think it should not be a problem what language you speak to vacuum and polish a room, I did get an apology but that was all.
The only other niggle was the noise at nighttime. The hotel is situated right on a crossroads and opposite a bar with late license. Needless to say, as in many towns in the UK, the noise came from late night revellers and cars racing up and down the roads. I can't blame the hotel for these infringements but it is worth mentioning this, especially at the weekend.
On the whole the hotel is reasonably good, but to sum up: Good food and staff (apart from the cleaner!), rooms comfortable but perhaps need updating for the price (£90 p/n for the bridal/family room, £65 for a double/twin).
