Description: The Estate Grill is our contemporary restaurant, which is a reflection of our commitment to providing locally sourced, simple dishes. Executive Chef, Marc Hardiman, has a straightforward and honest approach to food and enjoys experiencing new dining concepts, both in Europe and the UK. With this in mind, along with the current trend for dining to become more relaxed and casual, he has created an innovative menu of smaller plates, allowing guests to order a variety of dishes brought to the table to eat informally, in an almost "grazing" style. Choose as few or as many as you like and they'll be served by both restaurant staff and even one of our chefs. The menu still offers more classic dishes too, mainly cooked on our Josper grill, so if you fancy a traditional main course then the choice is yours! The aim is to offer our diners a more flexible approach to eating out whilst still using the finest ingredients, many of which are grown on our estate and freshly picked each day. Our extensive kitchen garden and glasshouse supply us with a variety of seasonal herbs, fruits, salad leaves and vegetables.

This family lunch was to celebrate my wife's birthday so we were a party of 5 plus a toddler. The welcome at the hotel was very warm and we were given a very pleasasnt table in a corner of the restaurant so that we wouldnt disturb the other diners. The meal was super as was the wine and the service and afterwards we were able to have a verypleasant wander around the delightful gardens to take photographs. Great Fiosters is always an extremely pleasant place to visit, it is near Heathrow, the staff are superb and the food is always divine, Cant wait to have an overnight stay there. The only suggestion I would have for them is to provide high chairs for the younger clients.

Thank you for writing a review such lovely comments about your recent visit to the Oak Room.

I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your family lunch and only sorry that you were not offered a high chair as we do have both high chairs and booster seats for our younger guests.

I hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you back to Great Fosters soon.

Beautiful grounds and buildings, but the staff seem to be rather clueless, we attended a wedding and it was obvious that many of the staff just didnt know what to do. The food was good, but it was let down by poor service.

Thank you for your recent review on your visit to the hotel for a wedding in April of this year. I was horrified to read that you thought my team 'clueless'. We receive a large amount of very complimentary letters from our wedding couples each month.

Unfortunately you haven't given enough details in your post for me to fully investigate your comments.

As is normal, service and ambiance impeccable! Staff cannot be faulted.

Slight blip on arrival, they seemed not have our online reservation, despite my confirmation email. This was quickly sorted out.

Starters were excellent. We both had roast beef, etc. as the main course. Beautifully presented, generous portions, but the beef sirloin was not as tasty or tender as it could have been. Think I prefer rib for a roast, more flavour. Also some of the "glazed" vegetables were seriously undercooked. A chef should know the difference between "undercooked" and "al dente". Huge Yorkshire Pudding, delicious, would have tasted better if there had been an offer of extra gravy or "jus". I can prepare better roast potatoes myself.

No room for desserts, asked if we could have coffee on the terrace as it was a beautiful day. This was politely and apologetically refused as the terrace was full.........afternoon teas, probably.

So paid the bill, and went home for coffee.

All in all, delightful, but not a "5" rating this time.

Thank you for your recent comments.

We have had many conversations about rib versus sirloin and have opted to go with sirloin as this seems to be the preferred cut for the majority. Although I agree that rib is full of flavour, several of our diners have commented on the higher fat content in rib, hence the reason why we have chosen sirloin.

We've taken your comments about extra jus on board and we now offer small jugs with our roast beef.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We look forward to welcoming you back.
