We called at the Lough Erne Hotel last Friday for a second brief visit and the welcome at the door was excellent by the concierge. He welcomed us back and asked did we want food and even told us there was a special of White Onion Soup with Crispy bacon. We sat down in the main lounge area and a very friendly waiter took our order for soup and a great range of small snacks. The Soup arrived in cold bowls and when my son and I tasted it it was indeed luke warm. We asked for it to be heated and that was no problem. It arrived back luke warm again two minutes later. We called the waiter over again and this time the waiter said the chef says it is supposed to be like that, but if you don't like it we wil take it off the bill. It was left on the table until we finished the meal. when we were paying the waiter offered us coffees which were gnerously not charged for. But we told him we dissagreed with the chef's assertion that the soup should be luke warm and we would be happy to chat with him about it. Why does a five star hotel allow a chef to refuse to heat up the soup that a customer wants hot? Just for interest bacon fat left at the bottom of a cold soup bowl can't be crispy, and why weren't we offered an alternative to the soup? We would have been happy to pay.

On the whole - a fairly decent place. We had some issues with the service and general staff attentiveness. It was clean but not spotless. Already showing some signs of wear, either they've been very busy or the quality needs improved.

At long last Northern Ireland has a hotel worth getting excited about! We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas holidays whilst visiting family in N.Ireland and this hotel was bliss! We have stayed in numerous 5 star hotels in Europe and Lough Erne is without a doubt one of the best. From the moment we arrived (in the -10 degrees cold and battling with heavy snow) we received a warm welcome and the service throughout our stay was second to none. Our lakeview suite had breathtaking views and we couldnt fault the facilities in the room. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the food was on par with any michelin star restaurant that we have eaten in. The hotel was very quiet during our stay and we were fortunate to have the spa to ourselves which meant we could lie in the pool looking out at the lakes covered in snow. We went for long walks on both days and the views from the top of the golf course overlooking the loughs despite being covered in several foot of snow were breathtaking. If you want peace and quiet then do not leave without visiting the library, I sat by the fire each day with a newspaper and a hot chocolate, perfect if you want to have some 'me time.' Upon our departure the conceirge took our keys loaded the car and had the car defrosted and warmed up for us checking out. Other reviews have commented on it being expensive but what else can you expect at a 5* hotel? In our experience we got exactly what we paid for. If you want roaring fires, superb food, great service and a luxury break then Lough Erne is worth every penny. We have been so impressed with the hotel that we have booked our wedding here for next year.

I recently stayed in Lough Erne for just an overnight stay as part of a recent wedding during the Christmas period. It is a fantastic hotel, but from a 5 star hotel/'resort' I expected a little something more on offer. The room was great but I have to say I was hoping for interactive tv and radio which I would of thought was the standard for a 5 star. It is a little on the expensive side, so bring the credit cards if you want to treat yourself a little. A lovely touch is always the turn down service with complimentary chocolates and water - always puts a smile on my face. One more item, ordering room service (which at £10 service tray charge is expensive) and asking for it to be collected as stated on the service tray dial x number to find it had been removed from the room however it was placed only 10 foot from the doorway of our room - what was the point in that, we could have done that ourselves.

We have just returned from a two day Spa break at this beautiful Hotel. As the weather had been so bad, there were a lot of cancellations and only five guests including ourselves had braved the elements. This being said, we were upgraded to a suite by Jonathan, General Manger, at no extra cost. It was an amazing room, complete with Jacuzzi bath and a spectaular view of the snow covered golf course and lake, a beautiful winter wonderland! All the staff were extremely helpful, attentive and nothing too much trouble, and at the same time unobtrusive. Special mention must go to Martin in the Blaney Bar and Ciara in the Catalina Resturant, thank you both for making our stay that little bit special! Food in both were also excellent, compliments to the chef!
If there is a down side , it has to be the Thai Spa. Having been to a few Spas in Northern Ireland, Galgorm, just outside Ballymena still has the upper hand. Lough Erne should really take a leaf from their book, especially Reception area, and Relaxation Rooms! An outdoor hot tub would have Spectacular views! Treatments are on the expensive side, but still enjoyable, depends on your budget, you can still use the pool and sauna. On saying that, we would return to the Hotel tomorrow and recommend highly.

This hotel made our first few days of married life sheer bliss, enough so that we extended our stay. On arrival they were courteous and so eager to please and could not do enough for us and we hadn't even told them we had just gotten married.

We were married at a different location and spent the night where we had our reception but chose the Lough Erne to spend our first few nights as a married couple. I know what you all will think and that we had rose tinted glasses on but in fact I do not wear glasses at all and my new wife is always quick to say something is not up to the standard that we would expect from a quality hotel. Hence why I married her... She has extremely good taste.

When we arrived we checked in and then said we were newly weds and they offered us their congratulations but when we went to go to our room the management stopped us and explained they would like to upgrade us and gave us the most beautiful room we have ever seen, with outstanding views of the Lough.

We went for a quick snack in the bar and the service was second to none.. I've never been called "Sir" before without "We are full can you move along please" being added. But whoever we came in contact with was incredibly courteous and made us feel like royalty... Again this was before the bar staff knew we were newly weds.

We had booked dinner in the restaurant and the food was unbelievable, so tasty and again such polite staff. They even sent out a fondo platter which had "congratulations" etched in chocolate around the plate.

The Spa was nice and it was my first time being rubbed down by anyone other than my wife or mum (when i was younger obviously) but this was great. I play rugby and this lady found knots in my back and feet that I never knew I had. May not be everyones cup of tea but bar elbow dropping on me the massage was fantastic.

Our second night came and we decided to stay on as we couldn't face going home... This was a truly romantic and peaceful place and time just slips by.

I would recommend this to anyone couple who are newly weds and hope you would get the same experience as we have had... It truly starts married life on the right foot.

i was with a group of 9 girls in our 30's away for a spa weekend. we stayed in two lodges which was great for us as they all have kitchenette and sitting room so we could hang out in private. the full size fridge was also handy for keeping the champagne we brought cold. we were in 2 lodges about 300yds from the main hotel. we used the courtesy mercedes to bring us to the hotel for our evening meal. the food in the catalina restaurant was delicous and was included in our break. the breakfasts were good too. recommend the french toast. overall we all loved it and are already thinking of booking it for our spa weekend next year too.
