If you are thinking of booking this hotel stop thinking and do it!!! We stayed here as a treat for my 40th birthday for 3 nights in November It was meant to be just my husband and I but it ended up the children came 2! The staff on the phone were more than helpful and changed our reservation from a double room in the hotel to a 2 bedroom lodge, which actually ended up being a 3 bedroom lodge! This was fabulous for us as a family as our 2 girls had their own bedroom to share and we had ours! The living area downstairs again was perfect for us all to veg out and watch television. The pool and spa were both a very enjoyable experience! The breakfasts were unbelievable! The porridge and pancakes which you can order were delicious! The buffet breakfast was beautiful as well! We dined in the bar and grill just past the hotel, and although the food was good it was not worth the £80 it cost!! We found the staff in the hotel to be extremely courteous and friendly, especially an older gentleman who moved us to the Gordon Wilson Library to have our coffee because they were setting up for afternoon teas!! Also the young waitress in the bar and grill who overheard my children discussing my birthday and appeared with a selection of deserts on a slate with Happy 40th Birthday written on it!! The staff in the golf club even let us borrow clubs so we could all go to the driving range!! The walk around the golf course is very scenic but could be a little better sigh posted as we kept thinking we were lost! The large gas fire in the hotel make it a delight to sit and watch the world go by. The hotel is soooo relaxing that our two girls fell asleep on the comfy couches after swimming! It is a beautiful hotel and I really hope some day we can return! We had such a relaxing and rejuvenating time!!

Room Tip: Lodges are perfect for families.

Lovely setting,confused staff,and a little bit rough.
This place needs a buyer quick before it falls apart.
Couldn't find reception it was located in the golf shop?
Receptionist hadn't got our booking I had to produce it?
Faulty towers just a bit.met a gentleman who opened my car door when leaving.
He looked a true pro I would give him the reigns !

Room Tip: I don't know.there were no other customers around to ask.ghost town

We spent a weekend here with 5 other couples and we all agreed this hotel is top notch. The staff were so helpful, always cheerful and so willing to make your stay enjoyable. We enjoyed the bar food on the first night, the restaurant was excellent on the second night and then we all relaxed in one of the spacious lounges with the help of a lovely fire and of course our after dinner drinks. We enjoyed the walks and recharged our batteries for Christmas.

This really is a very fine hotel. Very luxurious, comfortable & the staff are excellent. Food also really good. I do prefer the bar for food though as I find the restaurant very formal. Lovely leisure facilities also although closed for refurb on last stay (we knew in advance). Great golf course also & lovely walks around the grounds/golf course. The G8 crew certainly have a treat in store when they arrive in June '13.... I can highly recommend this hotel. It is not cheap but certainly worth they money....

Room Tip: Unless you want formal dining, eat in the bar, food also very good & obviously less expensive.

Wow. Top notch service and staff made our party feel very welcomed. Spa was completely operational due to fire, but they offered discounts on the services they did have. The Faldo course was one of the nicest I've ever played, and the employees were extremely nice despite being obvious amateurs. Club and shoe rentals were no problem (buy extra golf balls!) Food was excellent as well. The G8 summit is being held here in June. Any place that's good enough for the leaders of the free world is good enough for me.

Room Tip: Choose lake view for a beautiful view of the lake and the 1st & 18th holes of the golf course.

We spent 3 nights in a 2 bedroom lodge over Christmas. Couldn't find a single fault. The staff were amazing the whole stay. So friendly & happy to help. We ate in all areas & the food was beautiful in each. The scenery around the resort is really lovely. Would go back again in a heart beat!

Stayed here at Easter wrote a rave review which it deserved. Bit disappointed this time. Given advanced warning the spa would be closed but no offer of a reduction in £500 bill (two rooms). In fact it was take it or leave it -surely if a key part of what you are charged a premium for is temporarily unavailable the price should reflect this even a 10-20% reduction? Manager did knock something off when checking out to be fair but should have been offered upfront as good business sense. Food in grill bar and main bar was excellent but service was quite poor this time. Young people serving no one seemed to be in charge, not very attentive, pity as staff previously a big selling point.Seemed jaded tired and disinterested. Agree lakeview room not worth the extra have stayed in both. Would still go back but the Lough Eske may be worth its premium next time.
