Just back form Lough Erne Golf resort last night and have a few comments. The location is beautiful and first view of the hotel is very impressive. It is very well finished and the staff are very friendly and the rooms are first class. But...the bar areas are devoid of any character even though they are well decorated and furnished it resembles more of a gentlemans club than a bar and I can't imagine it ever having an atmosphere. If you want very genteel and quiet, this is for you, if you want some character look elsewhere. Also I noticed how long the receipt for pre-authorisation for my credit card was and read it. Apparently if you have a foreign credit card they will charge you in your own currency but.. the foreign exchange transaction will not be handled by your credit card company, but rather by the hotels nominated foreign exchange company. You know where this is going, it results in an extra charge of 3.5% for having a southern irish credit card. I asked to pay the bill in sterling on my card and was told that wasn't possible. The only reason I can see for this not being possible is so that you can be charged the commission. This seems like a very cheap way to get a very small amount of money from guests.

Had a lovely visit to Lough Erne. The suite we stayed in was lovely, with a great view. Yummy food, very nice selection of wine (and super bloody mary)!

Hadn't realised that the thai spa had opened so hadn't made a booking, but friends got an appointment and said the women gave amazing proper thai massage - i can't wait to go back just for that!

As someone else said, i'd believe that the negative comments by other reviewers are probably due to 'teething problems' given that the hotel hasn't been open very long. I thought the staff were very efficient and friendly.

Stayed for 2 nights. This was real luxury. The rooms are first rate, we had a lakeview room, very spacious, enormous bathroom with both separate shower and free-standing bath. Nice view over Lough Erne. One evening meal was included and was great, delicious, in fact. The service for the most part was great. The golf course isn't open till later this year but is right next to the existing Castle Hume course. Be prepared to fork out a hell of a lot more money for a stay here when it opens later this year. At the moment, they are offering good rates to get people through the door and generate interest. I couldn't fault the place. It's top quality set amid a spectacular backdrop.

I visit beautiful Fermanagh frequently, I love the place. Unfortunately up until now there has been a dearth of good hotels in that area. The Manor House and the Killyhelvin are OK but lack the finer touches. I availed of a two night stay at the Lough Erne Golf Resort this week and was pleasantly surprised. I can only assume that the previous reviewers negative remarks were just teething troubles. The staff were attentive and well trained without being to pushy. I dined in the bar and the main restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food. All of those little touches which make a hotel special were in evidence.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights.
On arrival receptionist very welcoming and friendly and explained in detail all the hotel facilities.
Decor in reception and bar / library welcoming with three fires going very cosy and warm.

The room was beautifuly decorated we had a lake view room,in the ensuite the most beautiful free standing bath and separate shower.

There were robes and slippers provided, bottled water and tea / coffee making facility.

The bar in the afternoon was very busy and understaffed and the available staff were stretched, afternoon tea unfortunatey was very slow to order and once it arrived, the tea was cold and the sandwiches on the tray were not fresh, bread was actually hard, did not enjoy this at all and it is priced too high at £12.00

The bar staff once we came down for pre dinner drinks were more than helpful and the atmosphere was great.
The restaurant is lovely and the service is of a very high standard.
The food i really enjoyed in the main restaurant and the bar menu is great also but expencive for bar food !

The spa is opening in February, however we used the pool / jacuzzi and steam room and really enjoyed the facilities.

overall we really enjoyed our stay and every member of staff we met were very pleasant and helpful.
We will definitely be returning.

We stayed for one night at the Lough Erne Golf Resort and were impressed by everything that we found there. The location is fantastic, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms were beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was fantastic, overall a fabulous stay, we will go for longer next time.

coming from switzerland the hotel appeared to be top-class:brand-new,nice location on lake with the prospect of a NICK FALDO designed golf course in the near future.stayed for 3 nights with my partner, were upgraded to a suite as it was my birthday when we arrived.the first thing i wanted to do is to relax in the jacuzzi in the bathroom:but it did not fill with water, instead the bathroom flooded:the waterpipes were not connected to the jacuzzi yet!!!then we were upgraded to the promising NICK FALDO suite:this time i connected the pipes to the jacuzzi myself as this was not done either!it worked finally.having travelled from a stay in the MERRION hotel in dublin it was overall a disappointing stay in this wanna-be hotel:afternoon tea was served and went cold by the time the cups arrived, the changing rooms in the SPA-area appeared not to have been cleaned for days, the pool is too small for the size of this hotel, some bar-staff seem to suffer from attention deficit disorder needing 15min to hand us a menu, and finally the receptionist argued over the price i had payed for the room.
I should have stayed in Dublin in the Merrion.

Sorry Nick Faldo, but this looks like being a flop unless ...
