I booked a two night stay for my husband's birthday - mentioned this when I booked and the girl said she'd 'make a note of that'. We arrived (no porter available) and checked in to our room. I was disappointed to see that the wallpaper above the headboard was torn, there was a large crack in a floor tile in the bathroom and the shower tray had a very obvious repair. However we were determined not to let this spoil our break so we went down for our afternoon tea which had been booked for 2.30. Although the room had been set for tea there was no-one on duty, and we had to go to reception after standing around for 10 minutes to ask if someone could take our order!

We had dinner on the evening of my husband's birthday in the Catalina restaurant, but no mention was made, no special table offered, in fact no reference whatsoever to the fact that he was celebrating a special occasion.

Our room was very warm so we slept with the windows open (no air con) - until 6.00 a.m. The staff then started arriving in their cars and vans made deliveries. This was bad enough but then a car alarm went off at two minute intervals - we called reception but they said they couldn't trace the owner who didn't appear to be staying at the hotel. The car had a personalised number plate and was parked in the same place again the next day!

This is a 5 star establishment and in my book 5 star should mean the best. It wasn't. We stayed at Lough Erne last year, had a wonderful time and the attention to detail was exceptional. I know the resort is in administration, that the general manager has now left, and hope that the present financial situation does not mean that basic maintenance is left undone. I did write a note of the above on the hotel's comment card, but no-one from the hotel has found it necessary to contact me.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms very noisy after 6.00 a.m. when staff/deliveries start arriving

My husband & I booked in for a 2 night stay & couldn't have been more pleased. From the moment we landed the staff could not have been more friendly, courteous or helpful. Gordon at front of house greeted us & we were instantly sure we'd made the right choice in hotels. The room was lovely & dinner in the Blaney bar delicious. The bramble cocktails were Devine & the bar staff so friendly.
Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of choice to suit all tastes. We ate in the Loughview bar & grill the following night & again the staff were super & the food beyond parr - you have to try the chefs signature dish, yummy! Although the resort was busy it never felt that way. The staff always took time to smile & say hello. They all took pride in their work & it was plain to see.
We simply didn't want to leave & have never felt so refreshed & destressed. I defy anyone to not enjoy the surrounding of this fabulous hotel. Lough Erne is truly beautiful & this resort allows you to enjoy it in all its glory.

Wonderful resort in magnificent tranquil setting. Family and I have stayed at the resort twice; over Christmas 2010 in rooms in the hotel and June/July 2011 in a loughside lodge. All family members, including grandmother and two nephews (20 and 16 years of age), thoroughly enjoyed both stays. The scenery is stunning and calming, as the resort is set on a peninsula between Castle Hume Lough and Lower Lough Erne. The Collop Walk gave us a better insight to the beauty of Lough Erne and its little islands than a boat trip we had taken the previous day. The accommodation is luxurious with quality and tasteful furnishings and large bathrooms with roll-top baths and separate rain showers, which tempt one to linger and pamper oneself. The loughside lodges are particularly luxurious, with ensuite bedrooms with French windows opening up onto Castle Hume Lough and separate lounge and kitchen facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at the Catalina Restaurant, Loughside Bar and Grill and Blaney Bar. The Loughside Bar and Grill is more affordable than the Catalina Restaurant and has excellent food. It is elevated and offers wonderful views of Castle Hume Lough. However, the Catalina Restaurant is nice for a treat/special occasion. My nephews enjoyed using the swimming pool/steam/sauna facilities/running around the Collop Walk route. The service throughout the resort was outstanding; very professional but also very kind and friendly with staff aiming to do as much as they could to ensure that our stay was a good one. In particular, I would like to thank the following for making our stay such an enjoyable one: Neil at the front desk, Patricia at reception, Ceira, Nicola, Pauline and Bjorn in the Catalina Restaurant, the very friendly and helpful staff at the Loughside Bar and Grill, Blaney Bar and Halfway House and the friendly groundsman who directed us to the Halfway House for a sandwich when we did the Collop Walk. However, all staff were very kind to us.

We stayed here for one night in a Lake View Room for 150 pound room rate.

A magnificient Resort with a stunning golf course. If you are a lover of Golf or SPA holidays this place is for you. My wife endulged in the Thai Spa and she loved it. I played a round of golf and I must say it was the best course I have ever played on.

The rooms are beautiful with lovely views of the lake and the golf course. They give you binoculars so you can spy on people playing golf. The breakfast again is very good. With eggs made to order and a lovely buffet breakfast.

We attended a wedding at this Hotel. What a great spot for a wedding. The food was lovely and the outside drinking Area is so beautiful.

As with all hotels there are some downsides. I found it hard to find some here but if I was being fussy here are a few. The Reception Area is way too small for a 5 star Hotel, Staff uniforms are abit worn looking, sipder webs all over the outside seats.

A huge plus for this Hotel is the customer service from the two gentlemen when you walk in. They are so helpful and very talkative. Well done Lough Erne Resort.

We stayed here for one night-in a courtyard room which was more than adequate.Having had too much "fine dining" on our trip we opted for the clubhouse restaurant. I had the steak and guinness pie which had the most generous amount of steak inside that I have had anywhere and it defeated me -my husband was delighted to sample this along with his delicious hake.
The staff were warm and friendly and I am grateful to Anna in the Blaney Bar for her recommendation of a rum runner cocktail, and to Neil for sitting me in the lounge where I could see my husband playing the last two holes on the Faldo course. The Gordon Wilson Library was a delight to relax and read in.
I hope we will get the chance to return!

We stayed in one of the lodges in the grounds of the main hotel taking advantage of the child friendly Cygnet package on offer. The service from all staff members was really fantastic, we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The layout of the lodge was superb with full kitchen, dining area, lounge, and two bedrooms with en suites. The childrens bedroom was set up for 2 beds as standard with a separate roll out bed for our 4 year old. Views were fantastic, so peaceful and tranquil. Food was delicious, we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast in the hotel every morning. Try a thai massage in the spa - fantastic. Children loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi. We thought overall good value for what we got. If you are thinking of going for a family break don't think twice about it, ours can't wait to go back!
