three old ladies stayed at the Galleon for the du Maurier festival, Fowey. Owners and staff were courteous and good fun. Rooms were great and very reasonable. lovely place, right on the Fowey River.

An excellent weekend stay in a sleepy Cornish fishing village in a really good b & b. Spacious clean rooms with ensuite and a varied breakfast . Good Cornish real ale as well as more tradtional beers largers and ciders, superb food and massive portions. Highly recommended and i would stay here again. Only one slight downside no onsite parking so a trip to the car park to top up the ticket is a bit of a pain, but don't let that put you off

We took two of our family for an impromptu Friday night supper. We usually go for two courses but after perusing the menu we decided to go for 3 courses, taking advantage of the 2 mains for £10 seasonal option. This has a fairly basic choice but something for each of us. For starters the men opted for the seafood platter to share, I went for Chicken goujons and my daughter had garlic mushrooms.Well, the starters alone would have been enough! My goujons were actually large pieces of breast (made from at least one large chicken breast) in a light tasty batter accompanied by a large and varied salad. The seafood platter was similarly huge. We were expecting a small main course after that, but the portions were a good sized plateful - larger than some normal portions in other establishments. We never made it to dessert........ This is not cordon bleu, but all the food was well presented and the staff were all courteous and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant and there was live rock music from 9 pm. The whole meal, including 2 rounds of drinks came to £64 which we thought was very reasonable. I would describe this as unpretentious good value catering.

Room Tip: we did not stay here so cannot comment

A little gem tucked away in the centre of Fowey, does not look so good as you go through the passage way but it's worth it,and a lovely place to have a pint read the paper and look out at the river.

Just did our usual one night stay in August at The Galleon. Usual quick check-in at the Bar. Managed to get the corner table on the front patio for a bar lunch - hearty sandwiches with that great view of the River. Took the ferry over to Polruan in the afternoon for a wander and a drink in The Lugger. We had planned to have dinner in Sam's Restaurant on the street behind the Galleon, but the wait was too long for a table (an hour - they don't take bookings - well, it was August!), so decided to go to The Boathouse instead on the harbour (less of a queue there) and actually had a good, but slightly pricey Italian meal.

Our room was comfortable and clean as usual, peaceful after the pub had closed, and breakfast the next morning was plentiful and freshly cooked to order. I'm still not keen on the back breakfast room though - it's a shame residents can't have breakfast in the conservatory downstairs with the river view - I'd prefer it.

I wasn't going to write a review again, but decided to put a few photos of the rooms on here as they may be helpful. Personally, pub accommodation usually suits us as we prefer it to the experience of 'staying in someone's house' type of B&B. We also think the rates at The Galleon are very reasonable at £35 pppn.

Room Tip: There are two bigger family river view rooms on the front at £40 pppn, but they overlook the front p...

I stayed 2 nights at the Galleon Inn in the small fishing town of Fowey. I also ate there as well from a really good menu with daily specials. The rooms are tastfully furnished with very good ammenities. The rear of the Inn overlooks the large river and estury. Breakfast was excellent with good sized portions and not greasy. There is a choice of fish if you give them a days notice. The rooms are on top of the pub so ask for the 2nd floor if a bit of noise bothers you. I will be going back and would highly reccommend this Inn

Room Tip: Second florr is quieter but there are only 6 or 7 rooms to choose from so book early

Beer selection is good but the Highlight for us was being able to sit on the front benches, right next to the river, with a great view!
