“Inexplicably slow.”
Review of Nile's Bakery

They would sell more pasties and have more happy punters if they just tweaked service in the shop. As described by others, there are frequent queues and the counter service is unbelievably slow. It's almost perverse. For the sake of maybe £20 spent on a junior to help in the shop at peak times they could sort it. Or even just give the staff a short briefing on how to get on with it. Maybe send them on a half day outing to a city of London sandwich bar to see how hundreds of happy customers can be served with fresh made food in a small shop during everyone's tight lunch hour.

I'm not in charge of pasty choosing in Fowey, but if I was I probably wouldn't choose here. This year the pasty was just OK, as in previous years, but as alluded to in the previous published review, the queue moved exceptionally slowly. There were 4 or 5 ahead but we waited for over 15 minutes to be served which is ridiculous. This needs to be sorted out. The pasty was fine, tender meat, but a little under seasoned.

We queued for nearly 20 minutes to get some takeaway drinks and food and there was only one person in front of us! The service was painfully slow, as one young girl tried to serve somebody and an older woman busied herself doing things that really could have waited whilst the queue grew out the door and into the street. The food and drink were fine but come on guys - some basic 'customer first' training is needed here...

We always enjoy the steak pasties and, as a special treat, we take home a Premium Saffron Cake. The Premium one has extra saffron and fruit!

We have been all round Cornwall testing the pasties and these always get the thumbs up. This week we tried Presto's, Niles's and another variety in Padstow and Niles came out top with everyone in the family group, there were 7 of us! The pastry is THE BEST. Good meat content in the steak ones and not too much crust... the chicken ones are pretty good too. Medium sized is plenty for me, try the large if you are ravenous!
