Go back to a bygone era when everybody calls you sir or madam and nothing is too much trouble, that's the Fowey hotel. Lovely attentive staff and all very polite. We had rooms overlooking the estuary in the lower ground floor (no lift access) which were comfortable but a little too warm for our liking and unfortunately there are no windows to leave open for ventilation. The only alternative being two large old patio doors which we couldn't leave open overnight. Also there must be some sort of water supply problem as the pipes rattle furiously at times when switched on by our and neighbouring rooms. Food was really nice and service very good. Only moan we would say is that someone must be counting the amount of food supplied as everyday we ordered the full English breakfast there were exactly 5 small mushrooms each portion, not one more, not one less. One of our party decided on no sausage and asked for an extra bacon rasher but again there must be an unwritten rule... two rashers of bacon and no substitutions. Another in our party opted for mushrooms, egg and tomato which looked a bit lost and sad on the plate.... still just the 5 mushrooms were presented... just seemed a bit mean surely a few more mushrooms as they were missing out on so much more. Top and bottom of it all pretty minor moans and a lovely stay and would definitely return and recommend.
