“Wonderful!”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

This was everything we could have wished for in a family break!
We had a great time. The food was lovely (even though in our 4 night stay 2 of the nights had the same menu - I have a feeling if we had asked for something off the menu it would have been made). We had a room in the courtyard which was sumptious in every way.
Our daughter did not want to leave and has now decided she wants to be Cornish!
We are so pleased that we did book it even though when we tried to book it and stay an extra night the person on reception was very unhelpful and completely not indicative of the rest of the staff. The complimentary bubbly when we arrived was a fabulous touch and more than made up for the poor booking process.
A special mention goes to Emma in the Den who works with the children - she is such a star and made sure our daughter had a wonderful time at the pool and pamper parties.
Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful hotel.
The staff cannot do enough for you and nothing is too much trouble.
Perfect start to 2013. Will definitely be back.
Chris is a great hands on Manager and is doing a fab job of running this boutique hotel.
Our first New Year in the UK and definitely not our last.

Room Tip: If you have a family definitely the new refurbed rooms in the courtyard, huge modern and comfortable...

I was recently lucky enough to stay at Fowey Hall for two night at the end of Nov/beginning on Dec 2012. I went with my fiance, and we were slightly apprehensive as the website goes a bit overboard on how they cater for families (So we were concerned it would be overrun with children.)

We caught the train from London to Par (which normally would be a v easy, direct journey. But sadly due to floods, we had to change trains a dozen times! Upon arrival at Par, Fowey is a very short taxi ride away. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by a friendly host who showed us around all of the hotel, explaining about breakfast and then showing us to our room. We were made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere was laid back.

The room was great! Very warm with a huge bed and pillows everywhere. Small tv (bit too small for the room actually), dressing table, wardrobe, tea & coffee facilities in the wardrobe, and the bathroom really was incredible! (huge bath, walk in shower and beautiful tiles.)

The breakfast on both mornings was delicious, but we had a couple of niggles. The first morning the waiter got our orders muddled up with the next tables (bringing my vegetarian boyfriend a ham omlette!!) And then the second morning my boyfriend's waffles were still frozen in the middle. Not good, but they did rectify the problems and apologised.

We had afternoon tea on our second afternoon, and the hotel manager served us. We explained that my fiance was a veggie, and asked for an up-weight of veggie savories. We were assured this would happen, but actually they just put on some cheese crackers, and everything else was meat/prawn. Again, not good. The final night we ate dinner in the restuarant. The setting was magical, candles and low light everywhere - v romantic. And they separate families and couples - great! I ordered the duck and whilst it was delicious and flavourful, it was SO chewy I had to stop eating as it was giving me jaw-ache! The scallop starter and the veggies with my main course were lovely though.

Overall a great hotel with beautiful views of the sea and wonderful facilities, but if I go back I would definitely go and eat in the town. Oh, and also bring some grippy shoes - the walk down into Fowey is VERY steep and can be a little slippery when rainy. Totally worth the walk there and back though, the town is amazing, quaint, and filled with lovely places to eat.

Our visit to Fowey Hall was in all honesty the best we have ever experienced,as a family we have been luckily enough to travel the world. The service at Fowey Hall is the best we have ever had.The staff cannot do enough for you,the food and service is great and the old manor, stately home, blazing open fire feel is lovely.

The only little complaint,is that due to the open fires, upstairs gets a little too warm-rather uncomfortably and the double bed is standard size, possibly antique and is far too small!

Overall,a wonderful experience and we will be back!

Just got back from a wonderful New Year break and am very glad to report Fowey Hall is definitely back to how it used to be. We haven't been back for 4 years after a disastrous stay when it was owned by Von Essen. Thankfully it's now been bought back by The Luxury Family Hotels group. The food and service was fab - especially the New Year eve gala dinner. All the staff were efficient and courteous and went out of their way to help. Our kids 10 & 8 had an amazing time - especially at the supervised/organised pool party on New Year's Day. We will definitely be back for New Year this year, if not before.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the Court yard suites which were very comfortable and newly refurbished but all...

This is not your typical sterile Travelodge style hotel... It's old school cool within a beautiful historic building in a sublime location. Our room (Mary Anne) was a great size with a beautiful (and large) modern en suite, the full width windows overlooking the estuary were a gorgeous bonus. The staff were attentive, super polite and very eager to please. The food was also excellent with a good selection of wines. This was a short post shopping/pre-Christmas treat for us and was just as we hoped - relaxing, peaceful and a Fowey joy. Highly recommended.

we recently stayed at this hotel .
we werent expecting to stay at all but issues forced us to stay the night .
what can i say mediocre decor ,tired furniture and in the main library i was surprised ,pleasantly to find totally updated decor and furniture ,which wasnt damp to the feel when sat on .
the gardens and view were amazing and the room we stayed in was lovely .
we had 2 lovely members of housekeeping call on us the next morning and couldnt do enough for us ,even though we were to leave hopefully that day .
zoe and Holly from housekeeping came back with extra tea and coffee etc and towels and kept rechecking if we were ok . fabulous customer services ,if anything this would entice us back .

We recently stayed in October for my brother wedding. We had a wonderful room - complete with 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms perfect for us and our 3 year old daughter. The decor to us was lovely - traditional and immensley comfortable - the beds were really comfy. It had character and you knew you were somewhere so special. The hotel was lovely and warm and the service was fabulous. This hotel combines service, luxury with being totally on hand to provide for families. The lovey touches of wellies by the front door, animal umbrellas, creche facilities, and 2 rooms filled with toys to attract to all ages (dolls house, jigsaws, dvd, cinema room, computers, table football) meant all children (& not so young kids!) had plenty to fill there time. This hotel goes the extra mile - they think about families - like ensuring your bottles are washed for you, providing beakers of milk and making you feel inclusive to the whole experience. The swiiming pool is gorgeous and a soak in the hot tub overlooking the sea is a joy!
The wedding was beautiful and the co-ordination was excellent. Totally Superb!!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms have an amazing view over the sea and town.
