We arrived at such an awkward time that for a very late lunch, we were just glad to find somewhere to serve us. We were attracted by the cute interior and their specials boards of fresh fish.
We had whitebait and scallops to start. Whitebait were covered in batter and fried, although not freshly caught they were tasty enough with lemon to squeeze over them. Scallops had the attachment left on, and so the sear wasn't good and so lacking in flavour. Garlic bread was lovely however.
Fresh monkfish and fresh sole for mains. The sole tasted lovely, except for a thin fish it was spoiled by the fried batter around it. Shame. Monkfish was okay but when you compare to the restaurant Mackerel Sky in Penzance where the monkfish tastes as though it was caught a few hours earlier, it was disappointing.
Service was friendly and relaxed.
This was the most expensive meal we've had but far from the best meal we've had.
Overall it was okay but disappointing.
