Description: The Pheasant is a family run free house owned by the Jones family since 2005. We aim to provide great locally sourced food in a friendly and relaxed environment. We also offer a great range of real ales, wines, lagers and spirits. Situated in the pretty south Lakeland village of allithwaite we are popular with locals and tourists alike. The conservatory offers stunning views across Morecambe Bay and Humphrey Head where you can walk the Cumbrian way or admire Peregrine falcons. Food is served daily 12-9pm where we offer our full menu in addition to daily specials and the lunchtime offer 2 meals £12 served 12-4 Mon- Sat. On Sunday's we offer The Great British sunday roast with meats from local butchers Higginson and Proctor and turkey from the Fylde coast farmer Peter Willacy. The menu offers variety from simple pub classics such as fresh beer battered haddock, chips and mushy peas to signature dishes such as Cartmel Valley Game crispy confit of duck leg with a sweet plum jus, cabbage and bacon and spring onion mashed potato. We also offer a young diners menu and welcome families.

I went here on 28th July 2014 for some late night food. We went here last year as part of our Holiday to the lakes (staying in a nearby cottage). We were pleased then with the food and service , but this last visit was a cut above.

We arrived to a very busy pub (brazil match was on) and we were asked by a passing member of staff if we had reserved a table. Being on holiday we didnt really think about it so we said we hadn't. Rather then be disgruntled about it they went out of their way to set up a table for us out of the way and did a great job of serving us.

The food was top quality and the service was better :)

We came here attracted by the good reviews. We were not disappointed. Careful research set our expectations to expect good, honest but not too pretentious food. That was exactly what we got and plenty of it. Other pubs in the area are presenting gourmet style menus but are a little light on the delivery. This pub offers simple but effective menu items including mentioning sources for some of their ingredients for example, Higginsons steaks. Always a good touch.

We had the Black Pudding and Fresh Haddock Goujons for starters. (always be careful when ordering these as the vast majority in other places come out a freezer bag. I can categorically state the Goujons at the Pheasant Inn were homemade and tasty!!) For mains, Surf and Turf and the Chicken and Rib combo.

We enjoyed all of these dishes. There was no room for desserts!!

Staff very welcoming. We came away feeling the meal was very good and not too pricey and that's how I've rated it; We will definitely return.

I can't recommend the Pheasant Inn highly enough. I've been a couple of times, and on both occasions the food has been brilliant, the service second to none, a very friendly atmosphere and overall excellent value for money. Anyone visiting Allithwaite really should go here, you won't be let down!

We were staying up the road for a week. We wanted good beer and somewhere to eat out where we could take the dogs. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. Would have gone there more if our waistlines and wallets could have coped!
