My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend break on 25th . 26th January 2013 We were pleasantly surprised overall except in places the decoration could be improved.
The prices are very reasonable indeed and the staff are lovely.
Our double room was spacious with all the necessary facilities. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was warm.
The food was always fresh, no tinned or frozen rubbish. There was a choice of Turkey, Pork or Salmon, also vegetarian for dinner which was very nice but there could have been more green vegetables. The breakfast was also very good with a wide selection.
Best of all were the evenings, the drinks were reasonable but the entertainment was outstanding. On the Friday evening there was a 7 piece Jazz Band who were fantastic. The Saturday night was even better, a full orchestra who played a variety of swing music dance and pops, all brilliant musicians and I must say a breath of fresh air unlike the usual rubbish at a lot of hotels, eg; Bingo, Karaoke and one man bands. We will certainly book again in future to be entertained for a change.

Room Tip: Rooms as near as possible to foyer

Had a bargain weekend here (3 nights dinner, B&B for £105). This was great value for money, and the hotel was really comfortable, it is massive and very long corridors! The room was good although there is a bit decoration needed in the bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, dinner was a carvery, the starters were a bit dated, can't remember when I last saw fruit juice as a starter!. The carvery on all three nights was very good although the rest of the main courses looked like they had spent too long under the lamps as they were so shriveled and look very unappetizing. The desserts were again locked in a bit of a time warp but they had great custard!!
Staff were friendly, we would definitely return, its not the big luxury end of the market but it was a good comfy hotel.

We did not stay in this hotel but thought a coffee might be a good idea before we returned home. We went about 2 o'clock on Sunday.
The drive up to the hotel is full of potholes. The receptionist was too busy talking to friends to welcome us in, so we went through to find the bar.
The hotel and lounge is huge with no-one around. I had to call into the back of the bar for the young man, he could not say "Hello" just raised his eyes, in fact he never spoke to us except to tell us the price. The coffee was machine made and expensive.
This hotel is mainly used by coach travel, it is definitely not 'Grand'. Some of the lounge chairs need urgent upholstery attention .

This weekend was our 13th visit to this hotel in recent years and we have not been disapointed yet. As some have mentioned the Hotel is in need of a little TLC but every time we go we see improvements being made. The breakfasts are superb and the staff throughout the hotel are excellent and extremely friendly. I would highly recommend the murder mystery weekends, a laugh from beginning to end. If you want to fill in an afternoon there are lovely walks in the grounds of the hotel and the recently refurbished tennis court and putting greeen are a great way to relax for a few hours. For the kids there is also a new play area to keep them entertained.

I am already booked in for 2 more stays this year and thoroughly looking frward to it.

Room Tip: Views of the bay and balconies are available on request.

Have just spent four nights at the Cumbria Grand Hotel as part of a coach tour. We were lucky to be given a family room which was very spacious. Bedroom & bed linen were very clean. Hot water came out of the tap Instantly. Complimentary toiletries were good. The bedroom was always warm. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cereals, fruit, juices and cooked items. The evening meal was also very enjoyable with a varied choice of menu. The evening entertainment was average. The staff were very attentive and polite, nothing seemed too much trouble.
The only down side was the price of the drinks in the bar.

excellent service from start to finish of this 4 day mini break. Bedrooms were very clean, food excellent with a good choice and all staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. They all went that extra mile. Entertainment was very good. would recommend this hotel to family and friends and would stay again. I have seen poor reviews and I can't see why. couldn't fault the hotel in any way.

Just spent a long weekend, Friday and Saturday night at the Cumbrian Grand Hotel in Grange over Sands.

Standard double room with Morecambe Bay view. The mist over the bay and the sunshing was amazing. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, nicely decorated, bathroom same.

Hotel was really warm everywhere and it was really cold outside. Staff were delightful - all of them really nice people, all seemed very genuine, Food was excellent, A la Carte and Bar meal all top quality. Lovely comfy chairs and sofas, lots of great comfy areas to sit around the bar area and surrounding rooms.

Would definately go again and would go to the murder mystery weekend if it wasn't next weekend!

The hotel is massive, looks a bit like an old lunatic asylum and yes probably needs a lot of money spending on it but all in all it was a 3 star and was much better than we anticipated. Rustic charm, set in great location with lovely grounds.

Would definately recommend it. Great weekend, would even stop a week it would be a great place to expore the Lakes.

Room Tip: Next time I would pay for the suite upgrade.
