The Coach House was a delight only to be matched by its owners, Ray and Dawn. Everything was perfect with top notch furnishings, care and attention to every detail, and such a home-from-home feeling. This is the nicest rental we have encountered in many years visiting all over the U.K. from our home on Colorado, USA. We regret that there will be no more opportunities to return there.
A very last minute decision to have a break did mean that we had limited choices but really glad that we chose The Coach House. This beautiful house was well maintained and offered ample space for the five of us with stunning views of the sandy bay from the massive terrace. The whole property was immaculately clean. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and it is a shame that we didn't get a chance to use the BBQ or light up a fire in the quaint fireplace. The location is ideal to explore the Lake District if you want to be far from the madding crowds of the tourist hotspots. The train station and the town centre is just a few minutes of walking although on your way back be prepared for a bit of a steep climb. The owners Raymond and Gill live just across and were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel next door is very good to nip in for some lovely breakfast or late tea. We also loved the food from the local Chinese Takeaway. Unfortunately this lovely gem of a self-catering is on the market and most likely will not be available for much longer - otherwise we would have loved to visit again.
A beautiful well kept property with stunning views, immaculate garden and comfy beds. It was very well equipped, homley and cosy on chilly nights. Extremely family friendly.
Apart from a difficulty in getting arriving instructions through the trip advisor website (The owner kindly provided them himself on request), the whole short stay was excellent. The apartment was well appointed with cooking and washing facilities and very spacious for our group size (3). For those who do not want to cook themselves, the hotel next door provide good meals. The views from the living area upstairs across the Morecombe Bay were really good (the bedrooms are downstairs) and the area very quiet. For those that need to keep in touch with the outside world the Wifi reception was good but mobile telephone reception was patchy.
We all wished we could have stayed longer1
Nestled on its wooded fellside, the Coach House offers tranquility, privacy and a sense of being at one with Nature, yet it is only a couple of minutes by car from Grange with all the shopping and services a traveller could desire (or five minutes if you prefer to walk). This white-painted building of ancient character has been sympathetically and painstakingly refurbished by the present owners to create the perfect holiday getaway, incorporating every mod con. The broad, high patio opens onto the magnificent panorama of Morecambe Bay, and suggests a glass of wine, a recliner and a good book - although you may find yourself spending an inordinate amount of time just enjoying the changing moods of sky and seascape. The great upper room, which incorporates the kitchen, is comfortably and tastefully furnished, and attractively styled in the vernacular (check out the lintel above the wood-burning stove). Bathrooms excellent. Bedrooms also, all linked by a gleaming corridor. Everything spotless. The impression is of a small and perfect hotel - and the joy is that it's all yours! Dawn and Ray, our hosts, live in a fine, detached house just across the sloping lane; they are an interesting couple who have travelled widely, and are sociable and supportive. One day, the rain hammered down from dawn to dusk, confining us to the house, but we enjoyed every minute because it was a 'really nice place to be'. So, thank you again, Dawn and Ray for a very fine week.
Have stayed in some great places but this is definitely in the top three. Fantastic welcome and wonderful accommodation - couldn't have asked for more. Beautiful spacious rooms, gorgeous gardens and really spacious balcony with bbq. Could not believe how much thought had gone in to making this such a perfect place to relax and chill in. Nothing has been left to chance and there are more books, games, maps etc to keep anyone happy for weeks.
Location is idyllic and the birdsong is unbelievable. Saw the customary rabbits etc but the highlight was finding myself eye to eye with deer whilst walking in the woods opposite - truly magical.
Will definitely be back.
Stayed here in April for a few nights with my husband and Mum.
Spacious well equipped property. Unusual layout as the living accommodation is upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs but that is just perfect to give you stunning views over Morecombe Bay.
Very friendly owners live just across the road. Everything worked and the house was spotless. Thoughtful touches such as a cupboard full of condiments in case you forget an 'essential'.
We only had a short stay but it is well suited to a longer break with washing machine, freezer etc. Two good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lovely conservatory, gorgeous garden and sun terrace. A wood burner and gas BBQ mean you can enjoy this place no matter what season it is.
It's up a steep narrow lane just out of Grange Over Sands which has plenty to offer.
Locallly are loads of attractions. We enjoyed visits to Levens Hall, Graythwaite garden, Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle and the Lakeland Motor Museum (all between 15 and 30 mins away)
Thoroughly recommend this property situated in a beautiful part of the world.
