The Chequers , as a venue is all you want from a country pub in the vale, cosy with log fires etc. The greeting is warm and friendly, the food was hot and presented well. Unfortunately that is where the positives ended, the food tasted mass produced, the turkey we ordered was poor quality and mainly tasteless brown meat, the gravy was made from bought in concentrate and the Yorkshire pudding was so hard you had to chip away at it.......very average. We had to ask twice for the bill which never came so we had to chase it. This is a shame for a lovely location.
