Just back from another amazing weekend in Speyside.
Staff from this hotel are excellent and will bend over backwards for you!
Would recommend the restaurant and the breakfast is full Scottish suited to your requirements.
Rooms are clean and all round excellent!

Room Tip: Rooms 11 and 12 have nice views

You have to like tartan to stay at the Garth...a liking for malt whiskey and excellent food helps too. There's a lot to like about this small hotel and very few 'buts'....overall we had a great time just before New Year - the staff were all friendly and helpful, its in a great location for exploring and as a hotel/restaurant, it ticks all the boxes.
But(s)...the bar is a bit tired, felt a bit unloved and forgotten...the lounge with the log fire was nicer but separated from the bar and no-one seemed to be attending to customers in there. The rooms are very comfortable but there are some thin walls..so be aware, whichever side (noise maker or receiver) you are.For the most part the food was excellent but one breakfast was disappointing with very overcooked haddock.

We'll be going back - hopefully to make it a base to ski if the lifts are open...we definitely won't bother looking at the Grant Hotel over the road - we did think about having dinner there one night and went in to have a look at the menu and enquire...we won't be going back there - not helpful and uninspiring menu - you'll definitely get a better choice and meal at the Garth.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

The rooms small but clean and well appointed. Our party booked in on a dinner bed and breakfast deal for two nights. We do this on a annual basis at this hotel however this is the first year that any price increase did not reflect quality. The dinner was often cool and very poor quality. I would recommend that if you choose to stay here do so under bed and breakfast tariff this is value for money. Staff were very good and did try to help with our complaints.

After the disappointment of learning that the restaurant we have used for the last few years to celebrate Hogmanay had closed, we managed to book a table at the Garth Hotel, and what a fantastic experience it was! From the minute we arrived, the service, atmosphere and food were superb. The whole evening was an occasion to savour, and we still were able to pop outside to join the festivities in this wonderful town.We have already booked our table with a larger group of family and friends for 2013!

The experience was mixed in terms of service. The hotel is generally clean and more than acceptable to stay at. It does require some reinvestment in some of the rooms and facilities. The staff were generally good, however, there is a need to ensure that they are all on script to cater for the clients. They were not good at responding to requests from clients.

I would stay again, as it is probably the best in the area, but could be really good indeed.

My significant other and I have been visiting the Garth for several years and we visit it at least couple of times most years, usually at quieter times. Late autumn and and mid winter are particularly good times for this part of Speyside.
The hotel is, like me,little bit old fashioned although I would prefer to say traditional. The standards of service are very high, each member of staff always wants to deliver a high quality of service but in a very relaxed mannerr. All the staff (and this is true for the staff that have come and gone over the years) seem to hit the spot between formal service and casual friendliness that makes for a very relaxed atmosphere.
The accommodation has been upgraded over the years and is now very good for this type of hotel. Some rooms may be a touch on the small side for some people..... I prefer to descibe them as 'intimate'
The food is of a consistently high standard. The menu varies around the traditional Scottish pub themes but the food is always freshly cooked and, for some this may be strange ,but they don't do huge portions that result in waste. I prefer sufficient delicious food to a surplus that only goes in the bin.
All round this is a hotel that I can thoroughly recommend especially for a short break, Speyside is a lovely part of the highlands and this is a wonderful location from which to get to know it.

We held our Wedding Reception at the Garth on the 3rd of November 2012 and had an absolutely fantastic day and evening.

Everything was delivered smoothly and without fuss. The food was cooked and presented perfectly which is no simple task for 70 guests and a great compliment to the kitchen team. The staff were absolutely exemplary and delivered fantastic service throughout the event. To top the quality of the food and service was the atmosphere which was fantastic and extremely cosy.

Living locally, this was the first time I had had the opportunity to spend the night at the Garth, my wife and I stayed in room 6 with was extremely spacious and well appointed with a fabulously comfortable bed.

The following morning the hotel delayed Breakfast for us to allow the sore heads to dissipate and once again, we were not disappointed with our full cooked breakfasts.

We regularly visit the Garth for lunches and would definitely recommend it for meals as well as a fantastic venue for large functions.

A massive thank you to all the staff at the Garth for a job fantastically well done
