“Perfect!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Granton is the perfect spot, and Holmhill House was a superb location, and home. The caretaker Judy is a star, and greeted us warmly and responded to our many queries with promptness. The house is lovely, and while it was larger than we needed (we did not use the upper level of rooms), I can only sing it's praises. My boys enjoyed the grounds (and a very friendly neighbor cat), and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The massive kitchen had everything we needed. The boys also enjoyed the well stocked games cupboard. I would highly recommend this lovely spot to all. Easy walking distance to town, and the perfect spot to head out to see the gorgeous area.

“Perfect for family get together”
Reviewed June 25, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Holmhill House was a great venue for a gathering of 13 of us (3 generations) to get together to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. The house is beautifully presented, very comfortable, and manages to combine modern comforts with Victorian splendour. It is extremely well equipped. Plenty of room for everyone, which was especially helpful given that one day was very wet. Our 2 dogs also loved it, particularly the woodland walks accessed opposite the house where we found deer, rabbits, ducklings, a baby mole and all sorts of bird life. Highly recommended.

“Fantastic Property! Highly recommended!”
Reviewed March 11, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We organised a friends get together at Holmhill House over a long weekend in March. This beautiful property has the wonderful grandeur of an old Victorian property but is fully equipped with all the modern appliances you could need. It overlooks stunning views of Granton-upon Spey and is only a five minute walk to the shops and pub. There is plenty to do in the area, (we went Quad trekking at Rothiemurchus-also excellent!), but there are lovely woodland walks not far from the house for those wanting to stay closer to home.
When we arrived we were shown round the house by the owner's daughter, who was very helpful and answered all our questions. The house was lovely and warm and the log fire was already set up ready for us to light! The house was also extremely clean, dust free and smelt fresh- the beds were all very comfortable with quality bedding and towels.
For our group the highlights of our weekend were being able to spend time together making use of the pool table, i-pod music systems and board games with the log fire roaring in the background. We are already planning to go back again!

“Lovely and Cosy”
Reviewed December 29, 2012 for a stay in December 2012

We stayed there over Christmas, a party of seven who got lost in such a huge house. Great facilities, well presented, fully equipped, spotless and comfy. Very helpful owners, thoroughly recommended.

“Almost a good place.”
Reviewed December 17, 2012 for a stay in December 2012

Not desperately impressed. The heating wasn't turned on until we got there - in the Highlands in winter that meant spending the first day wearing hats and coats indoors for the first day. Also, we were charged an extra £100 for bringing two extra people even though those two extra were under fives. Admittedly, I should have checked what the deal was, but it still meant the weekend ended on something of a sour note. Oh well, you might have more luck.

It's always disappointing when people re-arrange the facts to make a good story.
As you will see from the listing above, Holmhill House sleeps 14 in total. Ms Fielding's booking was confirmed in writing as 12 adults and 2 children (there was no requirement for a cot) - so 14 in total means we're full.
We were asked if we would accommodate the group's arrival 4 hours ahead of the normal entry time and again we were happy to oblige.
On arrival, there were actually 14 adults along with two children in the group. This is obviously a significant problem, but rather than ruin their break by turning them away, the Holmhill Team went into overdrive. We located an extra bed, assembled it and made it up with fresh linen, we then made a cot available for one of the children thereby freeing up another bed for one of the additional adults. We would have declined the booking at outset had we known how many people were going to be staying in the house.
The Highlands do get very cold and for this very reason, the central heating has to be on every day in the winter whether there a guests staying or not. On arrival, all guests are shown where the control for the heating system is and written instructions are also left to ensure that they know how to use the system. We did get a call at around 5.30pm that afternoon from Ms Fielding to say that she couldn't get the central heating to work, we reassured her that we would have someone with her as a matter of urgency. We received a second call 15 minutes or so later to say that they had worked out how to switch it on and all was well.
At the end of their break, we raised with Ms Fielding the problems that had been caused to us by her turning up out of the blue with two more adults than had been expected and charged a token £100 for all the work, effort and inconvenience that had been caused as a result.
We make every effort to ensure that all our guests have a fantastic experience at Holmhill House and we are always disappointed when people don't enjoy their stay but as the saying goes, you can't please all of the people all of the time (but we do try - honestly)!

“Holmhill House August 2012”

We went here to celebrate our silver wedding with our family which included people who had travelled from the south of England and Australia. It was a huge success. The accommodation was ideal and the house is extremely well equipped. The bedrooms were lovely and the views from the master bedroom balcony are fab. The kitchen was great for cooking and gatherings and we were also lucky enough to have Judy come in and cater for us on two occasions which was quite outstanding. We were a large party, but the house is very spacious it never felt crowded. There is a lovely large livingroom for when everyone gets together and the dining room too is spacious enough for a large party and it has great views. It is a great place to stay.
