“Food inedible!!!”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the new manager, who gave us set rules on what we could and could not do - we felt like we were back in school. The main problem was the food; most people we spoke to felt the same, it was awful. The room was way too small for two people. We had two single beds, the gap between them was only wide enough to side step through! Television didn't work. Just an all round bad stay. Never again!

Stayed for 5 days June 2012. Took my elderly parents who love Gt. Yarmouth. Hotel is well situated, just a few mins (slow) walk from the start of the main drag. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally friendly, helpful and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble - and everything is done quickly and efficiently.
The hotel itself needs redecorating, but it is very clean. They have good faciltiies for disabled people (my parents included). Rooms look out over the sea or over the athletics track at the rear (which with a balcony to sit on and watch people training, was very entertaining).
The food was not great, and if I go again, I wont stay full board. Breakfast was generally good, but dinner was a disappointment on a couple of nights. There was free entertainment on 3 of the nights we stayed. Dont buy the house wine it is terrible. Generally drink prices were in line with other places in Great Yarmouth.
Overall I think it represented good value for money. Its not luxurious, but the staff make it welcoming and friendly. I would use again.

Just returned from a 2 night Bank Holiday stay at The Hadleigh Gables Hotel, after reading the terrible reviews on here we were quite apprehensive as to what we had let ourselves in for.....

Arrived & checked in no problem, NO lecture from the male receptionist as previous guests have mentioned. Our room was right next to reception room 1 and i must say very quiet no noise of guests coming in & out. Room was very very basic double bed, bedside cabinet & 1 bedside light, dressing table and wardrobe all in pine. We had a portable flat screen TV with freeview wih good reception too. Tea & coffee making facilties limited but if you wanted more just ask but will charge you £1 (gets topped up each morning), we had NO kettle so asked at reception and he brought a kettle straight to us. En-suite room consisted of a tired looking shower, sink & toilet pedestal of which for some reason was sitting on a boxed piece of ply wood so once sat on it your feet were off the floor STRANGE. .....LADIES there was NO Hairdryer in the room not sure if they supplied 1 as i took my own anyway.

Breakfast was from 8am-9am....Showed to your table you then had the choice of apple or orange juice, weetabix cornflakes, rice krispies or what looked like mueseli, help yourself. The waitress then comes and asks if you want full english - 1 bacon,1 sausage,1 egg,1 spoon beans or tin tomatoes, half a piece of fried bread & a rack of toast, 3 half slices of brown & 3 half slices of white, ive never been served my breakfast SO QUICK (waitress in kitchen & straight out with your breakfast) must be already plated up, portions are quite small child size but you can ask for more toast they will get you more (if you like your toast like cardboard as previous traveller mentioned) There is a bar if you want a drink in the evening but we didnt use it so cant comment about it, and a pool table.

The hotel is very well situated, 5mins walk from the town centre with ample shops & cafes etc. Across the road is bowls courts and then the beach, we didnt go on the beach due to the weather but looked very nice & clean.

Parking is a nightmare at this hotel really with limited spaces its a 1st come basis and if you park down the side of the hotel you can get blocked in, so you have to leave your keys at reception so the boss can move the cars, i refused to leave my keys as he was not responsible for any damage whilst parked on his property , SO if he had have to move my car and had a bump then what happens????.....We parked outside of the hotel on the road which was metered £3 for 4hrs or £5 all day 8am til 8am the next day as after 6pm it was free.

VERDICT......

Although this hotel has its faults, decor very dated, food average, the bed was clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a good location, we would stay there again and eat breakfast out!!!!

We were welcomed by The Manager who informed us that the room would not be ready until 2 o'clock, no problem for us, we were immediately asked how we would be paying before we saw the room, there is a notice saying ' pay on arrival' - of all the hotels I have stayed in before you normally pay on departure. Also, 2.5% credit/.credit card, I told him I would pay by cash and. I was constantly harrassed by him asking me to pay. The room itself was like a cupboard, the tv didn't work and we had no hot water in the shower. When we went for breakfast we didn't have chance to get cereals as the breakfast was on the table within a minute, cold toast and bitter coffee. Also we were asked to leave our car keys with him as there is limited parking. We asked about the entertainment and were told there wasn't any due to the Diamond Celebrations, if we didn't want entertainment we would have stayed in a guest house. Also, we did request a room overlooking the sea and were put out the back.

Very poor quality we paid 140 pounds for the promise car parking on front and rear of hotel, that was a lie as there was no room, a television in one room didn't work so not all rooms come with a t.v. (well working t.v shall we say). One bed was stacked with towels because the base was broken. Wardrobe was propped up with wood. I can only say in this hotel there are 2 new attractions to Yarmouth ie Caterpillar ride - lumps and bumps in the 1st floor annex hallway and lifting floor in the Fun House between rooms 60 and 62. The hotel is very basic. Breakfast was ok though not as bad as I thought it would be. I would only recommend staying away from this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't bother
