Definitely recommend hotel, I love the bathroom... After a long day in Great Yarmouth all I needed was a hot bath. The water was super hot and the pressure was so powerful unlikely others hotels were you might get only a shower with just a warm water. Staff was very friendly and the food was good.

We stayed in this Hotel for a few days our room was great had a huge 7 foot bed in, 2 TVs one in bedroom & one in lounge area, overall room was good. Staff very friendly, food tasty especially the breakfast help yourself to whatever you wanted. Would defiantly go back again. Only downfall was the shower not powerful enough but bath was ok. Stayed in room 217.

Room Tip: Ask for 217 bed very big

I stayed in this hotel over a weekend following a rubbish stay at a hotel in Norway. The first thing I was struck by when checking in was the effort the receptionist made in making sure I was o.k. I had lost my bags in Amsterdam (nothing new there!!) and arrived with nothing but my laptop. The lady on reception was fantastic in making sure I could 'survive' the night till I got my bag back.
The room was clean and relaxing and a very comfortable bed. Flat screen t.v. with freeview and decent tea/coffee making facilities. Plenty of easy to read info on facilities available both in and out of the hotel. And if I did need anything else the reception staff seemed to go out of their way to help - well done all of you.
The food availability was excellent, eat in the bar or the restaurant and choose from any of three menus (yes three). The choice was very good and the food when served was of a consistently high standard, very well presented on the plate (not just shovelled on) and plenty of it too. Thanks to the cook and waiting staff.
The only gripe I have is the lack of free WiFi in the room. Not really a problem as it is available in all the public spaces (except for the main restaurant - but why would you want it there anyway!!).
WiFi was available in the rooms but only by 'subscription' paying by the hour. For business users this might be a small problem but for the occasional visitor it really isn't any hassle.
Would I stay there again - yes, and I would recommend it to others.
However check on line for special deals - or phone up for any late booking offers. I wasn't specifically told of these, I just overheard some conversations which made me think it was possible.

Room Tip: ground floor No's 111 upwards, these seem to be in a corridor on their own away from the bar ar...

I had my wedding reception here back when it was the Regency Dolphin Hotel in 1997.

Then it was a lovely hotel with excellent food and service.

I returned in January to reminiss about the past and unfortunately this hotel has become fawlty towers, no investment in it whatsoever, undertrained and overworked staff and really cannot recommend it for a stay.

Shame as used to be good !

Comfort Hotel, Great Yarmouth.
Inspection Review April 2012

Comfort hotel is situated approx 2-3 mins walk from the sea front
Parking is free for guests but limited and tight
Staff are friendly and accommodating
No lift

ROOM – Large Double booked

Very spacious, more than enough room for two adults and child with cot.
Door very stiff and noisy
Cold until heating came on in the late evening
Poor strip lighting
Windows showing a lot of signs of mildew
Pillows with covers removed are yellow and stained
Drawers are dusty and to dirty for clothes
Extra blankets available in plastic covers
Bed is two singles pushed together however very comfy indeed
Kettle did not fit under the tap so struggled to fill it up
Small TV for the size of room
Cables for TV hung loosely to the ground, not great if you have a small child
Dark and quiet at night

EN-SUITE

20% of floor tiles cracked
Wall tiles grout is grimy
Mirror is tiny and low, unable to see into
Saniflow system is over the top noisy, not good at night
Towels are tiny, tea towel size
No bath and didn’t even get asked if I was ok to go without
No lid on toilet, not a must but would have preferred to have seen one
Panic cord, pulled it, no-one came and had to call reception to turn it off
Shower hot and powerful
Free mini shower gels and shampoo

RESTAURANT

Not open on Sundays however food is available from the bar
Meals £2-3 more expensive than your average pub restaurant
£2.50 to eat in room
Basic pub grub with option of a couple of specials
Downstairs restaurant with access via stair lift if needed
Food is cooked well and of average quality

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is hot cooked buffet or continental
Eggs however you like them cooked
Bacon is thick and tasty
Tomatoes were gorgeous
Good selection of juices and cereals, yogurts and sweets
Couldn’t fault the breakfast
Very friendly waiter

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is non-available in rooms unless you want to pay over the top prices of £5 an hour
Not great if you are in the area on business

Overall:

Not the best hotel but cheap. In need of a bit of TLC.

We stayed at this hotel in March, we booked it last minute so we didn't expect anything just on the spot decision. My wife picked it randomly .. what a surprise place ... we couldn't fault anything at all. The room was clean ( no sea view but who cares as the hotel just off the seaside street !) and tidy, the food was excellent and it was honestly the best drink we had in Great Yarmouth. Friendly and normal people who run the hotel and no gimicks. Finally it is a proper 3* by AA not like some others whi are self-rated, this one it is not and well deserve our recommendation. By the way they don't allow pets , single sex groups .... does that tell you something? We heartly recommend it for everybody.

Room Tip: Just go there and you wouldn't be disappointed ... we weren't
