“Better than it looks from the front”
Review of Amazonia - World of Reptiles - CLOSED

I was really surprised as the front doesn't make it look very inviting. It was great and the shop had loads of animal toys which the kids loved. Well worth a visit for over 5s I think.

Walked past on a wet day so decided to go in. Entrance fee was a fair price. Good variety of animals. Staff didn't speak except to tell us how much we had to pay...appeared quite rundown and a bit smelly. Some of the vivs seemed a bit small for the animals they were housing. One visit is enough

Near to the Sealife Centre so we popped in. Only about £6 each so quite cheap. You walk through a large hothouse populated with cages and pens, filled with snakes, lizards, spiders etc. and decorated with fake and real plants, figs, vines etc. We spent about an hour in the place and thoroughly enjoyed it, the final highlight being the meerkat display. They are in a pen separated from a 6 foot alligator by a toughened glass sheet and so remain in a state of alert, adopting their familiar upright position. One of them got grumpy at being distracted from his guard duties and shot my wife a huge frown just as she snapped him. Priceless!

We visited here after walking past it a few times.
It was very quiet and we were the only ones in when we visited. Which was probably a good thing as is was a hot day and for obvious reasons the centre was kept rather warm. The centre had a good variety of species to look at. Although other than the few boards dotted about with minute writing on there was little information. There wasn't anybody walking around to give you any more information or answer any questions you may have. The only other people around were the people on the front desk in the gift shop.
The kids seemed to enjoy the experience and looking at the different species. It is probably more suited to older children as obviously the animals don't really do much.
It was a good time gap filler. I think we were only in there about 30 mins.

It was easy to get to and not too expensive, we paid 18 pound for 5 of us, one of which is only 1, the animals kept the kids really entertained, they loved it and could see some of the animals that were down low as well as lifting them up to see the others, you can also pay to hold some of the creatures,
