We organised a birthday party at The Star Hotel. Lots of family members and friends we hadn't seen for years, so expectations were high. Emma, the delightful Manager, was a dream to deal with, very friendly and made everything so easy. We had our party in a lovely spacious function room, with a well stocked bar. The food was excellent, fresh and plenty of it too, and for a very good price. Bar staff were polite and helpful. All in all a really good day. Will now recommend our friends to have future parties at this great historic establishment, under the helpful assistance of Emma and her staff, Ten out of ten.

What a fabulous hotel, with plenty of character. Staff are very friendly and polite. Rooms cosy, free wifi. Food was good. Lovely roaring fire in the lounge to sit by. Spacious car park, but needs overhauling. Overall a great stay.

After being together for 14 years we decided to take the plunge and tie the knot after my wife looked around at venues we decided to have our reception at The Star as we were getting married at the town hall it was only a stones throw away my wife to be did all the organisation as work commitments took up my time, in the arrangements she was helped at every turn by the lovely Emma and her staff nothing was too much trouble and we were informed at every point what was happening The day itself went off without a hitch we were greeted with sparkling wine and a superb hot buffet the bar staff were courteous and pleasant we decided to have a laid back reception and the star let us use there sound system as we didn't want a D.J thanks to the bar maid Steph for getting our Ipad to work with the system, after we had tea coffee and cakes its a shame some of the food got left only for the reason that there was vast amounts and people had 2 and in some cases 3 helpings lol we had the bridal suite as part of the package and it is a lovely Arabian themed room breakfast was lovely and all I can say once again is thanks to all the staff that helped make the day a very special one XXX

Went in for a drink after a meal elsewhere in Great Yarmouth (the executive) and had a great meal. We walked into the star straight through to the bar, where awaited an intoxicated barmaid (I only draw this conclusion due to her ability to handle herself whilst serving our drinks). We asked for two g&t's and half a beer where we were 'challenged' on our choices for a reason that is unbeknown to us. The music, for a old picturesc hotel, consisted of kiss fm turned up to full volume, I commented on this to my family between us and yet again chalanged, and I quote "well that's abrupt" from the 'intoxicated' barmaid. Stood shocked and silent we left for a quieter room to enjoy out overpriced drinks. Lovely.

very abrupt waitress
very unorganised we recieved our christmas lunch in the wrong order after waiting 45minutes for a waitress who was then very abrupt and unprofessional

we felt a burden having to chase waitresses to remind them we havent recieved our starters to which our lunch arrived stone cold !! only 2 choices of veg, soggy uncooked roast potatoes

then the same with the desserts

very upset and dissapointed alot of changes need to be made especially the staff who i think need to go on a customer service course

My Wife and 2 step- Daughters and my Mother and Father in -law, have just enjoyed the pleasure of Christmas dinner at the Star Hotel. A family run business whose waiting staff through out the afternoon were outstanding, as was the attitude of the duty manager and the owners who were present and wished every table a Happy Christmas.

We had an issue with the booking which was easily resolved and a complimentary bottle of wine for our minor trouble was most welcome.

The Beef Wellington was very nice as was the the turkey also. The only fault which is a minor criticism was the roast potatoes weren't to our liking, but then you can't please all the people all the time.

We have been to the carvery as well on a few Sundays and will continue to do so in the New Year. It's looking like a booking for Christmas dinner next year is also on the agenda!!!!

Many thanks to all the management at staff at The Star Hotel.

Chris, Nicky, Holly and Jessie, and Dick and Cyndi.
