“historic Smokehouse”

On arriving we were told all about the building and what was in it.
We had a very interesting couple of hours there, all staff were very informative.
It was a lovely hot day, so we sat in the courtyard and we were brought a cup of tea and coffee out on a tray (which was a nice touch) so we sat and soaked in the history and the atmosphere of the place.
We purchased a gorgeous jug and will always think of our visit when using it.
We would recommend a visit to the Smokehouse to anyone who is interested in history and art, it's a little gem.

“magical place”

On entering you are greeted cordily and shown someone working on the potters wheel, the next step to the glazing and firing. After that into a wonderful world of art and history, its a bit like Alladins cave. The herring smoking rooms are as they were and very interesting,I believe it is still family run affair, there is also a cafe that doubles up with a gift shop that sells items that are made in the pottery, you just have to take home a momento of this place, wonderful experience.
