Owner description: The Pleasure Beach with its mixture of high-octane rides and traditional attractions sits at the top of Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile dominating the seafront skyline with its famous Skydrop. Spread over nine acres, the Pleasure Beach offers huge family fun, full-throttle white knuckle rides to exhilarate and thrill, water attractions to catch your breath and fun rides to keep the children happy for hours. Our roller coaster has been the star attraction since 1932 and is still a crowd puller today. More than 1.1 million visitors enjoyed the Pleasure Beach experience in 2013, confirming our place in the top 10 UK free entry amusement parks. And even more attractions, rides and innovations are on their way.

“Loadsafun!”

Not cheap, but loads to do for everyone. If you did it all you'd need a week.

“Great Yarmouth pleasure beach”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

Needs to be updated some of the childrens rides were outdated, there was one ride that consisted of sitting on a plastic horse that went round bouncing up and down my grandson asked when does something happen, another ride was modeled on 'it's a dolls world' they sat in a carriage went into a cave then came out stating it was boring, lacking anything worth looking at.
The best thing on the site was the ice cream parlor modeled on the 50's.
Needs to have an injection of money with new rides.

“Narrowly Above Average.”
Reviewed September 28, 2011

Part of the 'Botton Brothers' empire, and similar to its poor relation in Skegness, the rides have noticeably deteriorated in quality and presence since the early '90's, relying on small and safe bets. I can recall back in the early '80's, classics such as the 'Sky-Wheels', 'Superloop', and a huge 'AstroGlide' dominated the park, and even a decade later, a massive ride named 'Condor' equally impressed. Presently, only the weedy-looking 'SkyDrop' and 'Evolution' rides can compete on previous levels, the rest, very average.

The 'extension' area featuring a rusting 'Log-Flume' ride, and an expanse resembling a car park where the 'Yarmouth Eye' Big Wheel stood proudly, makes it all seem to be lacking in proper investment. The park is not exactly cheap either, with tokens for £1-3 per person per ride, alternatively all-day wristbands can be costly to families, at just under £20 each a pop. Thankfully, unlike Blackpool PB, it's still free for non-riders to wander around in. It's a shame, because the Pleasure Beach holds an ace up its sleeve.

That ace happens to be the unmissable, wonderfully nostalgic and historic 'scenic railway' wooden Rollercoaster, apparently the only example still fully operational in the UK. Built in France in 1928, it was transported to Great Yarmouth and rebuilt in 1932, where it has stood ever since. It appears nowadays to have withstood regular spankings by the weather, and could do with a whole re-paint job on the external landscape boards. The sea-facing side has faded badly over time, whilst the front appears rather flaky. Will be very interesting to see how management develop the land to the south. Other than that, for a small leisure park, the coaster singularly lifts this review to above average.
