We used the trains to get to Halifax and travel about once there on our four day walking break . Takes about half an hour to walk from the rail station and town (passing Ossett's Three Pigeons pub on the way so not all bad)
It is a bit hilly though with Salterhebble Hill leading down to the hotel quite steep . The hotel is what we've come to expect from Premier Inn. Helpful staff, clean well decorated room, and a large comfortable bed. At the £29 we paid very goood value too. It's set back from the busy Huddersfield road and although there was some road noise not enough to disturb us. Our room looked across the narrow parking area to the canal with it's moored boats. A pleasant fifty minute walk along the tow path brings you to Sowerby Bridge. We ate one night in the next door Brewers Fayre restaurant. It was OK but we wouldn't bother again. Would definitely consider staying at the P.I though .
