Description: Standing opposite St Mary's Church in Luddenden, this Grade II listed pub, originally known as Newhouse, was renamed The Lord Nelson Inn following the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Once a haunt of Branwell Bronte and the home of England's first lending library, the pub is full of history and character. It has original beamed ceilings, two cosy lounge's and three original open fires. Outside at the rear is a small paved area leading to a large raised garden seating area.

“Late lunch. Sunday 18 Aug 2013”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

I visited this pub on recommendation of a friend who lives locally.
The pub is in a great setting, and is the only pub in this quaint village.
There was a warm welcome from the staff. The pub was pleasantly busy, but not overly full.
I ordered the large chicken dinner at £8.50. We all sat in the garden area. The food arrived within a good space of time. It was delicious and well cooked and served with 3 types of vegetables, and two type of potatoes, plus yorkie puds. It certainly was a lot too eat also.
The waiting staff were excellent, polite and service with a smile.
I would recommend eating at this pub restaurant, and hope to visit again.

“Fell in love with this place”
Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

We came across this place quite by accident whilst exploring the area by motorbike.

The pub, which is situated in a picturesque village, looked very old, quaint and inviting, so we parked up and ventured in. Really pleased we did as the welcome was genuine and friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was fantastic!

This is definitely one establishment we would return to again and again. The food was very good value for money, beautifully presented and faultless. Can't wait to go back!
