We visited this beautiful spot a couple of weeks ago, when we parked up it was raining heavy so we sat in the car and had a cup of tea whilst it dried up enough to go for a walk. From the lower car park we headed to the right through the gate and down to the reservoir where we walked all the way round to the visitor centre in less than 45 minutes. It was very tranquil, with a few different species of bird singing to us on the way round. There were families with children and dog walkers. We decided to leave venturing off the beaten track through the woodland for another day when the weather was drier. Looking forward to doing that next time. As we wanted more than just refreshments from the cafe the man recommended the pub at the end of the road. We chose food from the bar menu, toasted sandwiches with salad and coleslaw and a portion of chips, we were wholly satisfied. The landlord was very friendly and struck up conversation with us. Most enjoyable afternoon. We will take a picnic next time when the weather is nice as there are plenty of benches.
