Holdsworth house is a treasure. Arriving at this oasis of tranquillity was such a pleasure. The reception staff were wonderfully welcoming, making us feel very special. The room with a four poster bed and lots of natural light from the velux window made us feel very relaxed. The bathroom was very well equipped and very clean. We had a slight mishap with our welcoming glass of wine, the glasses managed to slide off the table and spill all over the wall and carpet. (Maybe ghosts) We were asked if we would like to sit in the garden and finish our drinks. The waitress then brought us two fresh glasses of wine which was gratefully received.
The dinner in the panelled room was delicious, so many wonderful choices it took us quite a while to choose. Our second day we wanted to visit the Bronte parsonage so the staff printed out a route map for us. We were meeting relatives the next night, so the reception staff recommended a taxi firm, which was punctual and courteous.
The two breakfasts we had were delicious, my favourite was the Yorkshire ham, poached eggs and tomatoes. All the staff were very friendly and always enquiring if we needed anything. We will definitely return again.

This offer on this hotel was a Travelzoo recommendation and the possibility of golf nearby was an added attraction. From the initial booking, to checking out, the personal attention of staff was commendable. We enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine on arrival and a superb evening meal....there were a number of unusual items on the menu and the wild mushroom soup was the best we had ever tasted. There was a wedding on that evening and we didn't hear a sound....room 31 (an upgrade) was perfect for our needs (although a walk-in shower would have been a bonus) and two velux windows gave us relief from a humid night. Holdsworth has a really interesting history and is well worth a visit.

I met a friend here for lunch, and I was extremely pleasantly surprised by the venue. situated very close to a local industrial area. It really is quite a quaint and exquisite little hideaway. There was some confusion over our booking as they believed we were there for afternoon tea, but a very helpful memeber of staff soon had the matter sorted. We were taken to a lovely dining room although we had only expected a bar meal and we ordered from a very limited lunch time deal menu which had to be printed as none were instantly available. These were minor niggles because when the food arrived it was absolutely delicious - a very tasty pate starter and the largest portion of fish and chips I have ever seen! If I had to complain at all it would simply be that the portions were just too big. However, I have rated this establishment highly because it deserves the recognition.

Dear YorkshireMo, thank you for dropping in to Holdsworth House for lunch, we are delighted you found the lunch tasty and plentiful; naturally we have all appetites to cater for and so portion sizes are made to meet demand. Our lunch offer menu changes weekly but we should have some menus printed out ready; our new restaurant manager will ensure this is rectified.

we stayed here to attend a party. The house and gardens are beautiful . It's not in a very beautiful location though just off a housing estate - no nice walks from the hotel. The Old part of the house is beautiful. Staff polite. Party food was wonderful but breakfast rather boring.
first room we were shown too - supposed to be a suite was tiny with just a two seater setee at the bottom of the bed to make it a suite- no! tiny balcony/fire escape at the back overlooking a builders yard we asked for another room and they quickly obliged. This was the strange layout with the bed upstairs in a tiny balcony room - bathroom wardrobe and comfortable chairs and tv downstairs. quirky but a little squashed. BUT all immaculately clean
main problem was being too warm the weather so unusually hot and I asked for a thinner duvet on the bed as there was a really thick luxurious but far too warm feather duvet. no sheet. the reply was "we havn't any thinner duvets" England had been having a heatwave for a month! plenty of time to buy some thinner duvets. the girl at reception said she would send us a sheet - this arrived whilst we were at the party but wasn't put on the bed it was just on the dressing table. The coffee cups we used on arrival and next morning we noticed they were still dirty and had not been replaced so we couldn't make a cup of coffee until I had washed them and my partner went for some milk. so some little things let this hotel down

Dear Catherine R, thank you for staying at Holdsworth House and for your review. We are pleased that overall you found the hotel beautiful and the food good. As we already offer a full Yorkshire cooked breakfast plus a freshly prepared Continental buffet table and are happy to indulge in individual guest requests, we are very keen to hear more ideas on how you think we could specifically improve the breakfast further? If you can email us at the hotel, we’d appreciate it. Our rooms are quirky, in fact the entire hotel has a unique charm that only history can create. You make a good point about having lighter duvets, we will be ordering lighter togs on our next inventory update; it is the first time such a request has been raised so thank you. Your bed sheet should have been put on the bed and the coffee cups clean - we will address this.

I stayed at the hotel for a wedding and our room which was apparently one of the nicer (more expensive) ones faced the hotel entrance/car park and was incredibly noisy. After being woken up at 7.30 am by noisy housekeeping staff shouting to each other I went out to reception to tell them and they didn't apologise. They said they would see what had caused it... After the breakfast (which was lovely but not very friendly) we asked what had caused the noise and the same people just said they didn't know. Overall, it definitely wasn't worth the money, the house was very pretty and the food nice but if I can't get a good nights sleep in a hotel then its not really worth it for me.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 9

Dear Liza351351 we are sorry to hear that your sleep was disturbed by noise. Thank you for raising this as a concern again; we will investigate with the team as to what happened on this occasion since this is not in keeping with our usually discreet service.
