Stayed on a one night business trip so the experience was a bit limited. Staff great. Hotel parking and grounds were good. Location for Halifax was good - cab fare into centre was about £6.50. Room was good. Bathroom OK - but couldn't get a really hot shower - even at 6:15am!

WiFi worked - which is a bonus!

Restaurant cozy. Menu was good. Food was fine.

Staff were happy and friendly.

Shame I couldn't stay longer to give you a fairer picture, but suffice to say that I would certainly use the Holdsworth again for a business trip and also as a centre to explore the area.

Halifax looks like it has plenty of town character that needs to be investigated.

Room Tip: Haggle for a good rate.

My wife and I have just returned from a 2 night break at Holdsworth House. We had a wonderful time, the room was really comfortable, food excellent, the local draught IPA very good and the staff friendly, helpful but not over fussy. The area may not at first glance be the most picturesque and be somewhat overshadowed by the Dales etc, but there is a unique charm with some really lovely towns and villages to visit.
My one reservation would be whether a stay would be quite as nice for a couple when a wedding is being hosted, still we can simply check with the Hotel.

Dear Frank, thank you for staying at Holdsworth House and for your review on Tripadvisor. We are delighted that you had a most relaxing and enjoyable stay and the food was to your liking. Whilst it did not affect you (and functions rarely disrupt hotel guests) we do make it a policy now of advising all non-wedding party guests if a function will be taking place. This allows us the opportunity to make special arrangements for our hotel guests, such as preparing for a late arrival or a dinner reservation, and to ensure everyone is well looked after.

We stayed recently at the Holdsworth for our dear friends wedding. What a wonderful place it is. From the moment we checked in we were made to feel very welcome all the staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was wonderful we only booked a house double but what a suprise to find a 4 poster waiting for us! The room was large enough for us and the settee at the end of the bed was a nice addition to relax in and have a cup of tea at the end of the day. The bathroom was spacious and had ample storage space for everything. The food was beautiful and ample portions. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night and my steak was cooked to perfection. The breakfast and all the food served during the wedding was magnificent. I can see why people choose to have their weddings here as the attention to detail and the will to go that extra mile so people enjoy themselves is very evident. I would thoroughly recommend the Holdsworth for a wedding and also a lovely place to celebrate any special occasion I hope to be able to go back again soon.

Thank you so much Bubblepud for your review of Holdsworth House on Tripadvisor. We could not ask for a more glowing report and we really appreciate you sharing your experience with others. We were lucky enough to be guests at a wedding here and had a brilliant day. The hotel is beautiful and a perfect venue for a wedding, a peaceful overnight get away or even a relaxing lunch. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable.

We attended a wedding at the end of October and were made extremely welcome from the moment we arrived.
The room was clean and cosy with everything we required, especially the tea making facilities with replacements from Reception whenever we required them.
The wedding went smoothly and the food at the reception was absolutely amazing, with the waiters/waitresses very well organised and attentive. The public rooms were varied and comfortable with 'real' fires during the evening which made it very welcoming. Altogether a wonderful and memorable stay. Well recommended.

Room Tip: If travelling with a young child, as were my daughter and son-in-law, recommend booking a larger dou...

My wife and I stayed 2 nights to attend a friend's wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small but very nice and there was everything you would need. The public rooms were nice and the roaring fires made it very welcoming. The breakfast was very good and plenty of it. The wedding went without a hitch and everyone enjoyed themselves and the staff were all called out so that we could give them a well deserved round of applause.
