“Better than I expected.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

I visited this hotel as part of a coach holiday, staying four nights Mon - Thurs end of May bank holiday week.
I had read the mixed reviews prior to staying, and I thought 'as long as its clean, it will be ok'. Well, the whole place was generally very worn around the edges, and needed a complete update. However, the bedroom/bathroom/bedding and towels were clean and there was a tv, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities The dining room was pleasant enough and the food was adequate, there was hot, well cooked selection for breakfast, with cereal, yoghurt and fruit if you prefered the cold option.
The staff were friendly and Sarah, who was on the reception desk, was very helpfull. There was a small bar but very little else happening at this place.
I suppose the words 'basic' and 'no frills' come to mind when I consider the hotel overall. The big down side to this hotel is its location, being in the middle of nowhere. - Harlow Town centre is a £7 taxi ride away, and I believe there is a pub a 10 min walk away.

Room Tip: Room 139 is adjacent to a corridor leading to the gym, which is open late. Unfortunately, with doors...

Stayed here in late May, after booking last minute via a third party website.

Upon arrival, the reception area seemed pleasant enough, and the room was clean and spacious. But apart from that, the hotel is in need of serious refurbishment. The bar area is small, and is open to non-residents; which for guests maybe off putting. In the bar is a tv on the wall, which constantly plays music and no TV channels. The food menu in the bar is basic, during our 3 night stay we ate out all evenings.

The corridors in the hotel are unclean and the carpet is a complete disgrace, with black stains throughout the hotel. Very off putting.

The hotel caters for guests who are on coach tour holidays, so breakfast in the morning can take a long time if you get your timing wrong.

Overall, it was pleasant place to stay. Unfortunately on the Saturday afternoon, we had no water in our bathroom for about 4 hours. Also the toilet never flushed properly so we couldnt use it.
The Plumber was very sorry for the incovenience and we accepted that the pipe work was at fault.
On Monday morning the food was very slow in being served, the buffett never had everything at the same time, you ate your sausages then went up for the bacon then back for the egg, because nothing was ready at the same time.

Got a deal for £23 for a room for a family of three through lastminute.com, which must be hard to beat.

On our arrival, the Bridget Jones lookalike at reception found our booking on the computer and said the payment had not gone through. Whether it had or not was nothing to do with me - it was between lastminute.com and the hotel. Then she said "it's definitely an advance booking price..." which seemed to me like a rude put-down.

We had asked for a child bed, which was broken to the extent of being unuseable, higher in the middle than at either end because the legs were broken and with many slats missing.

Asked for a replacement, which cam and appeared OK but was incredibly uncomfortable so in the end we all slept in the one bed.

On the positive side, the room was clean, if cramped, and the spa was excelllent.

Would I stay there again? At that price, yes; at the full price, definitely not.

Budget hotel at best.
Stayed two nights on B&B , the queen bed was good and the room was a decent size, however the carpet in the room and throughout the ground floor corridor was deeply stained with what looked like oil.
The shower was over the bath and it was difficult for us pensioners to climb in and out.
The Hotel is used by coach companies and if you time it wrong, as we did on the first morning, you have to queue to get a table for breakfast or as happened on the second morning, when you get into the dining room there's not much left to eat ( although they did slowly replenish some of the hot dishes ).
Breakfast was buffet style and wasn't very nice, cheap undercooked sausages and greasy bacon, coffee with very little taste was from a press button machine.
The Hotel has no atmosphere, the foyer has uncomfortable couches and chairs, the bar had a flat screen TV with a radio station playing !
OK for an overnight stop but that's it.
After sampling the breakfast, rather than eat dinner in the Hotel we ate out in the evening at an excellent Miller & Carter Steakhouse which is 5 minutes by car.

Stayed for one night and was pleasantly surprised. Receptionist (Angela I think) was extremely friendly and helpful and check-in was without hassle. The corridors to the room probably could do with a lick of paint and the layout of the rooms is a little odd but hey that isn't important you don't sleep in the corridors!

Once in the room we found it to be clean, fresh and everything was there that we needed including an in-room safe which was handy. The only negative would be the water pressure in the shower - it wasn't great but not too much of a problem for a one night stay. The water was hot so that's the main thing.

We drank in the bar that evening and found it to be pleasant, again with friendly staff. Breakfast was great - a nice selection and freshly cooked.

I was concerned prior to arriving due to some negative comments on here but would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road to reduce chance of traffic noise.

We stayed here as part of a trip to the Olympic Site etc for two nights. The room was good with tea making and tv. The food was good and plenty of it for breakfast and evening meal. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Hotel was quiet although on a busy junction.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor.
