The Marina has improved greatly within the recent year. They have plenty (loads) of high chairs and many days of the week has themed food and all you can eat buffets so check before you go. It does have a play area for the children, although this is very small.

We booked a table for 10 for the boxing day carvery meal. Having a 3 year old and 1 year old this was the ideal choce as there is a soft play area which kept them entained before the starter and between courses. The food was excellent and I cannot fault the guy who served us at our table. Will definitely return to this restaurant.

We have visited the Marina several times before, having lived quite nearby since the day it was built. We last visited earlier this year for a family event, and i have to say i was quite disappointed. The service was good, however the queues for ordering food and queues for drinks meant that we spent more time spending at the bar than we did sitting with the family. Food quality seems to have deteriorated of late, i ordered bangers and mash, the sausages were lovely however mashed potato was cold and not enough gravy. Certainly did not look like the picture on the menu! Still ok for a quick bite though, and childrens play area good though too small.

Booked table for 10 Boxing Day. 1 of party is midwife and was unsure if would be able to make it as may be called. Restaurant said no problem deposit would be taken off bill. On the day all went brilliantly. Great grandparents impressed with canal side setting. Grandparents loved being with all family in lovely surroundings. Mums and Dads happy little ones could go in play area and have fun. Little cousins had super time. Food was pre booked and great. Service although busy was excellent. Food presented well, served with attention and good value. Soft drink free top ups fantastic as 3 drivers and two little ones. Wine reasonably priced and tasty ( So Greatgrandad reported). Have phoned to say thank you, in this generation of moans and complaints please give a pat on the back when warranted. Will recommend to others. Happy New Year.

I placed a reservation through the website, for a table for 12 people.

We arrived at the Marina, I gave the details and was told there was no record of the booking.I was then given a multitude of excuses as to why there was no records there - and the person I was talking to had the nerve to check her mobile phone whilst I was speaking to her!

The majority of our party had travelled over 3 hours in order to come to meet us at the Marina and, so eventually the lady said she would speak to the manager to find out if anything could be done. As they were busy they couldn't do us a table for 12 as we needed, but could do a table for 8 people in half an hour. I don't know the logic behind this offering, were we supposed to select 4 from our party who were not to eat?

We used to eat at the Marina once every 6 weeks, and always recommend that people visit there if they are looking for a reasonable family friendly place to visit. I will no longer be doing this. We should have known from our last visit where our meals were practically thrown at us, not to bother returning.

Also, the amount of children running and roaming around without their parents led to the place resembling a child zoo as opposed to a restaurant.

Please avoid at all costs!
