“Anniversary Break”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

Each year we like to spend our Anniversary in a different part of Scotland so this year we thought we would try Kinross as neither of us had been to that area before but my sister had and she had enjoyed it so thought why not give it a try.
We booked a 3 night stay B&B at the Windlestrae Hotel it was great value for money £60 a night with booking.com, our room was a decent size and fairly clean but the window was covered in marks on the inside I thought the maid might clean it at some point [ but never did ] the flush in toilet was so slow [ took at least 15 min to fill ] also no toilet roll holder or even somewhere to hang towels, I could feel the springs through my mattress and the pillows where hard, our room was very close to the kitchen and I could hear the fan it did not bother me during the day as we where out most of the time but it did not go off till midnight on 2 of the nights and 11pm the third and then came back on 5 AM every morning so have to say I did not get a lot of sleep at this Hotel.
We did eat at the Italian Restaurant the food was good we enjoyed it, this was also where breakfast was served we also ate at the sister Hotel across the road [ but that will be in an other review ]
I have to say that all the staff where very helpful and friendly did not come across one that was not, we did have a good time but the Hotel in my opinion is tired and needs an upgrade and and until this is done it will always be a 3 star Hotel.

Room Tip: Hard to say ours was 306 and we looked into someones garden.

Another great stay at the Windlestrae. It was lovely to stay in one of the refurbished rooms rooms on this occasion. Food was lovely and staff were friendly and helpful. Looking forward to a return visit.

Excellent value for ONE night B&B plus a round of Golf for 2 on the Montgomery Golf Course. Four of us took advantage of this offer at a challenging golf course with many hazards and bunkers, but worth the effort to play. Lost a few golf balls, but who cares when we had the benefit of this early booking. Would recommend staying and eating in the Restaurant at night - good choice on the menu and good service, so no problems at all. My choice was Spaghetti Bolongaise and I enjoyed the meal plus the Lemon Cheesecake, especially as I love desserts! Hope to book again for the end of the season.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the Bar area, so relatively quiet.

This hotel is very good value for money and the rooms have recently been refurbished. Food in Montys is first class. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi are comfortable and well maintained. As it was my parents ruby wedding anniversary, I asked if we could have any flowers etc in their room, to which we were surprised with flowers, chocolates and a lovely hand written card (if you don't ask you don't get I suppose!). But thanks to the staff who organised this extra special touch at short notice. And they provided a tray of champagne flutes and ice bucket for some celebrations we were having in the room. The walk along the golf course to Loch Leven is also a joy. All in all very welcoming and will definitely be returning.

Had a really lovely day with my mum for her birthday treat with spa breaks. Well worth the money, facilities excellent, staff friendly and helpful, beauty staff lovely. Would definitely go back and recommend. The only downside is that the hotel could do with a little makeover (very clean but a little dated). Lovely lunch and very nice bar staff.

Just returned from a 1 night stay at the Windlestrae Hotel. We went on a daily deal that included spa treatments, b&b and a bottle of wine in the room on arrival. The hotel has only been awarded 3 stars but its definitely 4 stars.
The reception staff were very friendly, and provided us with lots of information about the hotel and the spa and pool/gym.
Our room was a good size, and had a refurbished bathroom. The bed was big (as requested) and although no view, there was nobody looking in to our room.
We had dinner in the hotel, and the food was good and reasonably priced. The wine was also reasonably priced. Breakfast was buffet, and as good as any other buffet breakfast we've had.
All in all, a very good hotel, that we would go back to. Should also say that all the staff were very friendly.

Room Tip: Room 319. Good size bed and bathroom.

We stayed at the Windlestrae hotel through an online voucher for overnight stay with spa treatment and round of golf.
The Montgomery course was challenging but an excellent course and very picturesque! My spa treatment was excellent and the therapist was very knowledgeable and very tentative with the massage!
Our room was quite dated but clean enough though-flatscreen TV however, lots of interference making watching difficult at times-trivial point.
Our evening meal and breakfast were both superb, couldn't fault the staff at all, very helpful.
We used the health suite-pool area was clean but the steam room had a massive clump of hair in it-abit off putting!!
Albeit its a good deal if you had the online voucher but we wouldn't be hurrying back!!
