We have stayed in this hiotel and the sister hotel across the road called The Green Hotel. Windlestrae is not a patch on ther green hotel.
The room was an ok size but a few things annoyed us. No toilet roll holdar and no towel rail. How are you meant to hang your towel up to dry? It is suppossed to be an eco friendly hotel but we couldnt use towels again as they were still wet.
No iron iron board in the room etc. Bed was comfortable
Staff were not unfriendly but not as nice as staff across the road. The girl at breakfast should change to doing a later shift as mornings dont suit her. Crack a smile at least!
Didnt like having to wait in a q to make my own toast
The Green Hotel has better restaurants, nicer staff. The 2 minute walk across to this hotel to use thre pool is not that bad
Stay in the green hotel not here. The Windlestrae was ok to stay in but The green Hotel is superb. No comparision on service and quaklity of food.
The pool

Room Tip: Dine at Basils in the green hotel. Food was amazing

We had a 2 night break at the Windlestrae and could not fault it. It is very conveniently located on the shore of Loch Leven and enjoys, along with its sister hotel, the Greens, the use of 2 golf courses. There are numerous walks through the nature reserve on the Loch-side, which we found very satisfying.
The staff were very helpful, although, work being done in the hotel made the room a little dusty. Hotel facilities were excellent.

Just returned from a couple of nights' break booked through voucher deal. Hotel is in good location within the village of Kinross. Plenty good walking nearby as very close to the Loch Leven Heritage Trail and Lomond Hills if you fancy something a bit more strenuous. Staff were friendly enough and although we arrived early, our room was ready. We ate in Monty's the first night and it was ok but nothing special. Breakfast was buffet style but staff were happy to accommodate requests for poached egg, porridge etc. Like a previous reviewer the leisure facilities were lacking somewhat as the steam room still not operating but the pool is a good size and, warm. The deal included a couple of treatments and the young lady, Gemma ( I think ) was very good and gave an excellent massage. Because the hotel does cater for tour parties and has a quick turnaround I feel that some of the housekeeping could be better. There was a layer of dust on the dressing table top and window sill and the cupboard and drawer fronts hadn't been cleaned in a while. . To cap it all, during our last evening, the fire alarm went off at 3am. We congregated in the car park but, at no time, did anyone check to see that all guests were out of the building or do a name check. Luckily it was a false alarm and we returned to our room after about half an hour. All in all, for what we paid, it was adequate

We arrived Early but told our Room was not ready so we thought we would go for a Drive in the surrounding area and its really nice and a shame we didnt bring our Dog as we are told the Hotel is dog friendly.

It was a Groupon Deal and we had a massage with the Package, so checked in no bother and the massage was brilliant. We ended up going out for the rest of the day and came back quite late for Tea wich we decided to have in the Hotel. We were steated quickly and served quickly and we had no complaints about the food just raving compliments. The Pasta bolognaise was brilliant and tasty and the Pasta Pesto was Terrific.

Sleep quality was good despite the room getting a bit warm in the middle of the night but opening the window soon sorted the issue

The breakfast was good too both Cereals, fulkl Scottish and toast with a choice of jams

I would like to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Ensure you lock your room as the rooms arent self locking during the night you might have to open a...

I stayed here for one night on Easter Sunday with my wife for a relaxing break . When we checked in our room was not ready so we went for a walk came back and checked in, our room was nice so we got settled then went to the pool area where the steam room didn't work and the sauna was so small you couldn't swing a cat in there,

we then went to the hotel bar ( cocktail bar ) as it says , we order a couple of cocktails then the girl started smashing ice with a cup only to find out that she didn't have the booze to make the cocktail , then I asked the girl jokingly was this a cocktail bar and she looked at me and said she didn't know it was a cocktail bar.

We went for dinner in the hotel restaurant which had about 7 tables at the time and asked if we could have a table for 2 and the senior member of staff asked if we had a reservation which we didn't. Then said she would maybe get us in an hour later which was ridiculous seen as there were more staff members than customers. Food was okay and we signed it to our room and when we departed the senior member shouted over the table ' have you signed your bill' ? I thought very unprofessional .

Finally.. At 4am in our room our radiator was clicking so couldn't get back to sleep, and at 730 again ( bank holiday Monday) there was construction in the hotel with this by loud what seemed to be a jack hammer which nearly gave me a heart attack, we complained to the receptionist only to be discounted a £10.

This hotel is simply shocking and I would not recommend it to m y worst enemy

Had a very pleasant stay. Staff were frieindly. We had a nice room, lovely bathroom. The veiw unfortunately was of the roof of the health club.
The bar staff were very freindly too.
Breakfast was buffet style, my husband asked for scrambled eggs and this was not a problem.
We would definately stay here again.
