“Ok but not raving”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

Here in Kinross for short break went on a Saturday evening was quiet for this time. Service was slow one waiter ok but other clueless, mucking up drink orders etc. and then sending young girl to deal with customers. Two pakora starters were good and flavoursome. Mains of lamb bhoona and chicken Korma were good and rice tasty enough. Overall food good, service shameful.

“Fine for a relaxed meal but nothing special”
Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

Went here for a meal on a Saturday night. It was quiet considering it was the weekend but atmosphere fine. Waited a long time to get our first drinks and had to ask for water twice. Our table was wobbly and despite place being empty we had to ask and wait to be moved. The food was tasty and fresh when it arrived. Naan breads were lovely. Food was nice but service needs some work.

“lovely meal”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Went to Kinross for a concert and ended up in here for something to eat. Decor is lovely and the 2 members of staff that were there were both very friendly. We had chicken pakora for starters which came with 2 different sauces - very tasty. I had chicken kashmir (I think that's what it was called - nice mild, fruity sauce with plenty of chicken. Nan bread was one of the best I had tasted in a long time. The other main was a lamb korma, which went down really well.
Had a lot of regular take away custom.
Price was reasonable and we would come here again.
Must mention the toilets - they looked as though they had been recently done up and were very clean.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We had been to this restaurant last year which was lovely, Unfortunately this time we had to ask for menus and then call someone over to order drinks, then my husbands main meal my lacked taste so he explained this to the waiter and his reply was "oh maybe you ordered the wrong one for you" So we did not order coffee or desserts and left and will not return.

“getting better”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

The words 'Under New Management' usually means improvement and this is the case at the Raj Mahal. The staff are noticeably keener to please and very pleasant with it. Décor is good and the restaurant and facilities are clean and well maintained.
The menu has stayed pretty much the same and is typical of most Indian Restaurants. Our starters were well cooked, tasty, but a bit cool in temperature. Our mains were also a bit cool and we had to ask for a fresh Naan as it was cold on arrival - this was done instantly and to our satisfaction.
Mains were a Chicken Balti - full of fresh flavours, juicy tender meat, Chicken Shahi Bahar Kurma - well cooked, flavoured and presented, , King Prawn Bhuna - lovely flavours, giant prawns but sadly overcooked and they had become rubbery.
Sides, breads, rice etc all up to standard with special mention of the plain Raitha -awesome fresh lemon flavour.
The restaurant was quite busy and staff explained they were short of a staff member - we were given a discount without asking for it.
This place deserves new and like us, returning customers (we abandoned it many years ago). It clearly has the potential to be a great place to eat.
