“Very enjoyable!”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We met our friends here for lunch, and we all found the food very tasty. I had a bacon and black pudding ciabatta. The filling and bread were both very fresh. The pot of tea could have been hotter though.

Afterwards we walked round the Nature Trail and then returned for afternoon tea, when I had one of the freshest scones I have ever tasted.

The only criticism I would have of an otherwise most enjoyable experience was that the restaurant is not at all intimate, but rather big and noisy and not great for chatting.

“Afternoon Tea for One”
Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

Loch Leven's Larder do Afternoon Tea. Not particularly noteworthy you might think, but for the following 3 reasons I think it is noteworthy:

1. They do Afternoon Tea for 1!
2. They serve Afternoon Tea from 12pm (noon)!
3. Their Afternoon Tea is AMAZING!

So when I visit (which is often!) hubby can choose from the lunch options and I can indulge in Afternoon Tea that I never get to have anywhere else because I dont know anywhere else you can get Afternoon Tea for 1.

There are 3 different sandwiches, pate & oatcakes, scone, fresh cream cakes and traybakes - all mainly bite sized but with the number of different choices
you get bite size is perfect. Fresh, homemade and delicious and only £8.95!

“Has lost its charm”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Loch Leven's Larder was a gem when it first opened, but the last few times I've visted it feels unfriendly, overpriced and prentious. Scone wasn't very tasty, overall quite expensive, it was very and the staff were disengaged and made very little effort to make you feel welcome. It's in a great location and I'm still keen to try out the funky pods in the garden, but I much prefer Heaven Scent with its reasonable prices and very friendly staff.

“Overpriced terrible food”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

It cost us almost £70 for a light lunch which was awful. We were served tea for 4 in a teapot that didn't hold enou water for 4 cups but had 4 tea bags in it, so very strong tea. The Welsh rarebit was just a slice of bread spread with mustard and topped with melted cheese - the bread wasn't even toasted. Am sure that other food might be nice but ours wasn't. Way over priced.

“Great lunches, great shop!”
Reviewed October 7, 2013 via mobile

This is a lovely place to visit for food shopping, gift shopping and lunching! The food in the shop and restaurant is all locally sourced and of the highest quality. The shop has a lot of kitchen stuff, cards and clothing - all good quality, if a bit pricey. The restaurant serves fresh, made on the premises food, great baked goods, excellent soups and sandwiches. The view from the bank of windows in the restaurant of Loch Leven and surrounding hills is magnificent. Would definitely recommend a visit - it is off the beaten track and well worth finding!
