Owner description: Set on the southern shore of the loch, RSPB Scotland Loch Leven nature reserve offers a great day out for families, nature lovers and wildlife watchers alike. Formerly known as Vane Farm, the RSPB bought the reserve in 1967 as a centre for environmental education and it is still a fantastic place for children to explore and discover nature today. Visitors can climb the trail through the woodland to the top of Vane Hill for a spectacular view over the Kinross-shire hills and countryside, or meander down to the wetland trail where three hides allow people to get really close to nature. In the summer, ospreys fish on the loch, and in the winter, thousands of pink-footed geese, swans and ducks make the reserve their home.

Stopped for a brief visit. Sadly too late for the cafe to be open. The staff were knowledgable and friendly. As we were on our way to a B&B we only stopped for a short while. We walked the trail to the first few hides. We were very impressed with the hides, the information and facilities. There are lots of nice touches and I would imagine this is a great place to bring young children interested in wildlife. They clearly have a children's club and we enjoyed the displays of their work and activities. Will definitely visit again and maybe sample the cafe too. The greylag goslings were very cute.

The best RSPB Reserve that we have been to, and we have been to a lot.
Good variation of bird habitats, nice cafe and helpful staff

We've stopped at this lovely cafe a couple of times now - it's handy for the motorway and a great environment for coffee or lunch. A limited but tasty selection of dishes, with nice cakes. Not expensive, and you can't beat the views of the nature reserve.
