“Fantastic cuisine in the centre of Lerwick”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

Went to Monty's for an evening meal twice in one week, once with a work-related group of six and once with my wife. Menu was short and well delivered, with a number of meat and seafood options and a vegetarian option. In my opinion Monty's does the best steak in Shetland, but this was surpassed by the fantastic slow roasted belly pork I had on the second of my visits. Very friendly and helpful service and a great town centre location.

“"Lamb".....”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We had not booked a table, but luckily we sit down at the bar. A nice young man was our waiter. He came quickly with the drink we had ordered. Good atmosphere in the room. We wanted to eat lamb since we were in Shetland, which we would regret .... "Lamb" tasted more like an old se sheep who had commited suicide, and had a lot of fat. Mashed potatoes were watery and had no taste at ALL. Have not eaten anything at this restaurant, but in any case not recommend eating lamb.

Charming decor, delicious food and great drinks menu. Service was great, you definitely get what you pay for. Advise to book ahead if you want a table on the weekend.

“Good food, but not family friendly”
Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

Food was fine...the special steak pie was particularly enjoyable...but the staff's insistance that we would "be more comfortable" sitting downstairs in the closed bar area as we had a infant with us, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, was offputting. They seemed genuinely surprised that our child was able to eat without causing disruption to others.

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

We went to Monty's twice on our recent trip to Shetland and I very much enjoyed the food. The Shetland fish pie is really good, as is their bread and I liked that they served a lot of local produce, including Valhalla beer. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is small and it is advisable to book, but I found them very efficient. Definitely worth going!
