This is the locals lunchtime cafe - it does very good quick, cheap meals, including the Orkney speciality, mince rolls. Delicious and filling. Very highly recommended.

If you are tourist to the area looking for a rainy day activity, then the swimming pool here is well worth a visit; the main pool is 25m long and there is a family pool with play area. Also within the same area is a 'Health Suite' comprising a spa bath, sauna and steam room, chargeable separately to pool entry.
The changing rooms are brand new and beware it is unisex changing - males and females in one area, so don't go around without your towel/clothes on...however you shouldn't need to do that as there are copious amounts of changing cubicles, including larger ones for families and the disabled.
Showers are pool-side for the most part, but there are some private showers.

For the visitor to the area, the cinema is located in this complex, and often theatre/musical productions will be put on, though these have largely moved to the new theatre at the upgraded grammar school. There is a cafe in the centre that provides a wide variety of refreshments.

Also within the same complex you have a state of the art gym, with various cardiovascular and strength/weight machines - but this is subject to a separate induction.
Fitness classes are also held most days - the Body Combat, Body Pump line of classes and these get extremely busy.

For visitors there are various fees associated with the facilities, whilst locals can opt for one of the membership packages.

We are here for a month (visitors beware, you'll be back) and I have swum twice in the new state of the art swimming pool, with excellent clean changing, shower and toilet areas; the 25m pool water is just right temperature and the environment relaxing. Staff, of course, efficient and welcoming.
We have also attended a special Viking film show and used the cafe; all good.

Visited here for a concert during the folk festival. What a tremendous local resource, with so many facilities and activities - envious
