My family went here for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed in the slightest! For starters we shared the baby squid, asparagus and scallops between us which were amazing. We had a traditional roast beef dinner which was beautiful. The meat was tender and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Beware though the Yorkshire puddings are huge!!! We would definitely recommend this place. it is warm and friendly and children are welcome. Also the staff are lovely.

The Dog was recommended for a traditional family Sunday Lunch when we were on a trip
back from USA. No one in our party was disappointed . The food, service and surroundings were a delight and it will definitely be at the top of our list to visit on our next trip home.
What a gem!

I first read about The Dog Inn in The Sunday Times a couple of weeks ago and decided to try it out, having never visited previously. The place itself is tucked away down some narrow country lanes. The inn is absolutely lovely, very rustic, there are a good selection of beers and the staff are friendly.

We ordered the Sunday Roast, which was delicious. Portion sizes are very generous. My only complaint was that after nearly 20 minutes, nobody had collected our plates, despite staff clearing the table next to us, and we eventually had to ask a passing waitress to clear our table.

I'd certainly visit again as the food is excellent, but the service needs to up its game.

Dinner with friends for a birthday celebration. Great food in beautiful surroundings. I don't know whether the staff just lack experience and/or training, but whilst very friendly and polite seem a little clueless.

Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Good quality food and fair prices. If they could sort out the service then this pub would have it all!

Read about this place in the Sunday Times and decided to give it a go the same day.
Arrived at about 14.30 and were given a table immediately.
The place has lots of atmosphere and is still most certainly a pub on one side and restaurant on the other.
Ordering is done at the bar and you are given a 'Slate Card' with a number which you settle at the end.
The interior is all good quality gastro-pub fittings with newspapers and the latest trend of having odd chairs everywhere!
We had snails (me) and crab cakes (my wife) both excellent followed by the Sunday roast beef which was also very good.
Two points worth a mention:
Firstly, there are surely enough waiting staff for orders to be taken at the table. It was busy and I had to queue for quite some time.
Secondly, the main course portions are huge and I think that a separate serving bowl for the vegetables would provide a less 'over-facing' mound of food on the plate.
The bill with drinks and tip was £70.00 which isn't cheap but the quality was good and it attracts seemingly good clientele (given the cars on the car park!)
Recommended.

Found this lovely pub whilst looking for a place to stay for a concert at Jodrell Bank.

Gorgeous pub, lovely welcome, a fine ales.
Rooms nice and clean and lovely little touches like "tea-pigs" and china cups.

We only ate breakfast, but that was fantastic. Great menu, fantastically cooked, with lovely service. It's a long time since I drank loose leaf tea from willow pattern crockery - delightful. Would strongly recommend.
