Tatton House is in an excellent state of preservation. Paintings, marvellous furniture, family collections and rooms are all superb. The gardens are well laid out, the rose garden is beautiful and the greenhouses very interesting with a great display of tree ferns. The Egremonts who owned the house played an important part in local life and this is well described.
The house is owned by the National Trust, the park around it is owned by the local council. They charge a lot of money for entry to each attraction and on top of that they charge £5 parking. We took all our refreshments with us to ensure we didn't contribute any more to this council's excessive money spinning. Our entry to the house and garden was already paid for in our NT membership. The park is excellent for walking and entry on foot is free if you have time for a good walk.
Tatton House is well worth the effort to visit, but beware of extra charges.
