Owner description: Located in 1,000 acres of beautiful deer park, the former Egerton family home is open for you to explore. You're welcome to uncover centuries of history at the Medieval Old Hall and witness life above and below stairs in the Mansion. Wander at leisure through 50 acres of award-winning Gardens and take the family to meet very special rare breed animals at our working Farm. You'll love stopping off in the Stableyard where you can sit back, eat, drink, browse and buy. With over 100 events a year it's the perfect day out! For nearly 400 years the estate was the property of the Egerton family until it was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1958. Today it is financed and maintained by Cheshire East Council.

We were here for a 2 days wedding and the tea party was the best! Decked out on the cool grass with free flow of champagne and food from the wedding, and seeing the bride throwing her bouquet from Level 2. Amazing place to hold a wedding.

We have been dozens of times and went this weekend so thought i would leave a good up to date review. Costs £5 per vehicle to enter the Park which is good value for money for the children's park alone, its excellent, and there is also another park (bit more hidden) in the Forrest as well.
Parking is great, when we went yesterday it was very busy, but there is so much overflow parking it doesn't matter and its all in the same place (not 10 mile hike away! Plenty of picnic areas, lovely walks, children's play park, shops and cafe in the courtyard, prices are average and you aren't ripped off. There is a huge horse carousel in the courtyard too for £2 a go. There is a gift shop, tuck shop, gardeners shop, beautiful gardens to walk around, a maze (possibly seasonal). The cobbles aren't too bad for prams either (not sure about wheelchairs im afraid but cant imagine its that much different) We didn't do the house tour as we have several over zealous children, but that's also available. There is so much to do that I just love it, ideal for the whole family

Great night! Wasn't that bothered about seeing Katherine Jenkins but she was fab, wonderful voice and great personality, she really connected with the audience. All rounded off with a chorus of 'Jerusalem' and firework display. Great event and really well organised by Tatton Park, no queues getting out at the end of the night.
Would definitely recommend a picnic concert at Tatton Park, won't be Katherine Jenkins next year but whoever is on the event and location will be great.

We visited on a glorious summer afternoon and visited the gardens which are quite simply magnificent with an excellent map/guide.
There is a very extensive walled kitchen garden, several glass houses including a pinery (where you grow pineapples!), an orchid house, a small but attractive Italian garden near the mansion and there is a lovely Japanese garden - though this is open for tours only and even then only on limited days.
The garden is free to National Trust and RHS members
We didn't visit the mansion - which is also free to National Trust members or any of the other attractions so can't comment on them.
Some other reviewers have commented - complained - about the parking fee but that seems unduly harsh as it is quite clear from National Trust handbook and website and Tatton Park website that National Trust members have to pay to park. Parking costs £5 per car.
It is not actually a National Trust operated property and so it has a very different feel to the surroundings with large parkland which has an adventure playground and a fairground; the catering/shopping area also had noisy fairground rides and I don't think the catering was as good as National Trust standards.
You can hire bikes and cycle round the extensive park and visit deer and lakes.
The park was incredibly popular when we visited with loads of families enjoying the summer.
It felt like a mix between a children's adventure playground/funfair and a National Trust property and I suspect that anyone turning up thinking they were visiting a "standard" National Trust property would get a bit of a surprise which may be reflected in the negative reviews.
However, if you go into the gardens, I would say that they were better than most National Trust properties I have visited.
