Owner description: Gauntlet, Eagle & Vulture park is the largest bird of prey park in the Northwest of England. With over 120 birds of prey, ranging from the smallest owls to the worlds largest eagle and Vultures it really is a haven for animal lovers. Gauntlet has two daily shows at 12.30 and 3 during the months March-Oct and during the winter months weekends only. As well as our two daily displays we have vulture feeding and meet & greet. We have a large children's play area with plenty of room for picnics. We are on the same site as Fryers garden centre and you can leave at anytime and come back for our displays. For those wishing to get closer we have bird of prey experiences which are run 7 days a week throughout the year. This gives people the opportunity to handle and fly the birds.

A wonderful introduction to birds of prey, we went for a halloween experience, which included food, talks, predentations, just an all round introduction to the different birds that they keep in captivity, and the work they do with them

We took our 6 & 8 yr olds to this park as my youngest has an interest in birds of prey and we weren't sure if he would be able to understand what was said.

They explained everything perfectly ensuring the children knew what some of the technical terminology was.

The staff are friendly and helpful and very knowledgable and even though they do this everyday it didn't feel like they were bored with it or reading from a script.

The birds were absolutely magical and the displays were out of this world. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone, you won't be disappointed with your day out.

Took the grandkids today as we had a Groupon voucher. Not sure what to expect but we all really enjoyed it! The birds are fantastic, although we were a little concerned at them all being tethered, but I suppose they have to be. Lots to see and had the weather been better we would have stayed for the flying displays. Not sure whether I would have wanted to pay full price for it, but it certainly made a change. 3 year old grandson Jojo was certain he'd seen a pterodactyl (it was certainly big enough whatever it was!) All in all well worth a visit.

I was bought a full day falconry experience as a birthday present and it was absolutely brilliant!! Shelley, who had the 'pleasure' of instructing about half a dozen of us was great, she was informative and made the whole day thoroughly interesting. Shelley taught us the falconers' knot, told us about the birds they have at the centre, their feeding etc then it was 'hands on' time. Words cannot describe the feeling of having these magnificent birds, each with it's own character and personality, perching on your fist. It is truly awesome. The day included going out and flying some birds free and also a wonderful display given in the arena by some of the staff with the birds whilst a running commentary was given. There are not enough superlatives to describe the day. If you are thinking about going then don't think just GO. You won't be disappointed! Btw we went back for an awesome night display with the owls after a meet and greet session in the barn and some warming food we went out and watched these beautiful birds flying at night. Awesome!!!! And if you have little ones there are also goats and ferrets there too. Can't wait to go back (and hope that this year for my birthday I might get a years membership)!
